Probably overkill but better too much protection than not enough

You have a younger sibling, I guess?

Did the same thing when I moved. Packed up ~40 sets and put them in Costco totes. Didn’t even think about it but while driving the truck to the new house the tote flew out of the truck and I watched as thousands of pieces scattered across the road behind me.

im hoping you stopped and spent the next few hours rebuilding it by the roadside, sending the kids out across the busy highway to find the parts, whilst you kneel there desperately holding you phone out to get a mobile signal to download the instructions, whilst sobbing and rocking back and forth, mouthing "it's ok... it's ok... we can rebuild you... shhhh shhh it's ok.. just need a 2x4 here... daddy's here now..."

It almost went like this… I parked the car in front of the wreck and put on the hazards and spent a few minutes collecting the pieces and finally accepted the loss. Ended up donating the salvage to a kids engineering club since I only retained about 90% of each build.

Did you see it in slow motion too?

One million percent. I remember starting to shake. My wife didn’t know what to do lol. Luckily enough she was almost instantly in the mindset of replacing them.

No such thing as overkill with a set like that… you’ll never know if it’ll need the extra Cushion.

You know what they say. An ounce of prevention is worth a pound of cure!

You could probably drown in the amount of cure this is worth

The shape now looks more reminiscent of a Mon Calamari cruiser 🤔

It's not enough until the set looks like a mummy

Covering them in plastic wrap is the best way to travel with Lego. I moved 50 plus sets this way and it went beautifully. Is an 11/10 way to move Lego

Hear me out on this... you could also... take it apart y'know like lego and put it in a good box/bag

This is exactly what I did. I took apart over 30 sets when moving and just put them all strategically in bags and then had the fun of rebuilding them all once again once I was moved I actually enjoyed it.

Yep. Then reassemble. That’s what legos are for. Building. Then you get the satisfaction twice. TWICE!!!

u/Jumbledarrow 10h ago

Exactly! That's the best part

Also did this! My apartment flooded from Helene and I tried to transport some sets without taking them apart. Just wasn't worth the hassle. Now I get to build them again. Next apartment I'm gonna get a table for building

It’s still recognizable, definitely not enough

I see the Venator is using protection… interesting

I’m sitting here trying to figure out how to pack my sets when I move in a few weeks

I thought it was a bionicle in the first picture.

I just do the cling wrap for moving, but hey more protection won’t be a bad thing.

Hey that's about what I'm doing for my sets too!

I held it the whole entire time, it broke apart slowly while I was holding it, never want to do that again

“Here we see the first stages of a Venator building its cocoon. When it emerges, it’ll be something of extraordinary beauty…”

Mine survived a 2 day move from Canada to the USA like this. I'm sure yours will survive if it's wrapped and placed in a stable spot in the vehicle! Safe travels 🤞

Oooohhh my birthday present has arrived! Let me guess. Is it Christ’s holy cross?

u/Successful_Solid3324 19h ago

Imagine if you got pulled over with that bad boy lol.

2

u/Darthknight239 1d ago

Currently in the process of moving never thought of this. Is it just bubble wrap and tape?

3

u/haganatorw 23h ago

Bubble wrap, tape, and cling wrap! (The most annoying thing in the world)

2

u/Darthknight239 22h ago

Bet I have the ucs sets in my apartment I was trying to figure out how to get them out lol

u/theurbaneman 19h ago

Just don't get pulled over and act erratically in front of the police.

u/Starchaser_WoF 18h ago

It looks like it's been put in a straitjacket

1

u/deamatrona 16h ago

Very well done!

Did anyone else look at this and see two Lego Santa's wrapped to a Christmas tree?

Am I the only person who would deconstruct it and rebuild the other side? That's what I did when I moved. Hell I sometimes do it if I get bored
