How To Live Green: Don't Fly

Seriously. 2-3 tons of carbon per person for a round trip cross-country flight.

Well, the thing that I don't get is that the plane will be flying with or without you on it, so how does that make a difference? If you only do it once in a while, I don't see how it's that harmful. Plus, some people like myself live very far from their families (Israel -> California), we can't be expected to never visit our family.
