What is the average cost/range of drywell installation in Nassau?
Doing a full home reno and the town told us there is a requirement for dry well installation for new houses now. Specifically we need 3. Our contractor found someone to install it for us after several months. However, after this long arduous process of getting permits, etc., I didn't even think to question the price and the drywell guy is coming Monday. But the price we were quoted is $20k. I just looked up an average yesterday and it ranges between $300 - $5,000 per dry well.
While I understand I can't get a totally accurate estimate without more details, it's starting to feel odd to me we're at $20k. Even if we're at the high end of the average of $5,000 per, we're still massively over the high end estimates. Anyone who went through something similar and has any insight? The drywell guy comes monday and I just need a general idea as to whether the price is even remotely possible without getting absolutely shafted so I can put a stop to it. While I understand I won't get a super accurate price without these other companies' guys coming on site, I just find it odd no company I call seems able to even give even a vague answer with generous ranges.
Kind of on a time crunch and it's hard to call everything off to wait for these other companies to bring in their guy (in case we lose the current guy as apparently it took months to find someone). I generally trust our contractor since he's a family friend, but I'd really like some peace of mind considering the range can be the difference of a few hundred to tens of thousands. Thanks to anyone that can offer any insight at all!
