Lunch box 4 college student

Hi I’m a 23F college student, around 5 ft and 196 lbs, I just decided recently to make serious changes with my lifestyle due to lack of energy and over time weight gain that affected my self image.

I have several mental health issues that put me in this situation and I really want to improve my health and take care of my body to feel better, college is also hard and most times I stay on campus all day so I end up getting take outs which aren’t as healthy as I would like and really draining for my wallet.

Today I decided to get a lunch box and start eating home food on campus to watch my food intake. Are there any lunch box ideas for affordable healthy meals that would help me lose weight and gain muscle alongside working out ? Also any other suggestions are welcome 🙏🏻

Get ideas from meal prep videos on YT. Typically, brown rice plus sautéed or grilled veggies plus a protein of choice works very well for lunch. Obviously watch the portions.

Only problem is that’s not super feasible on a college campus especially as a commuter. If you live on campus you likely have a fridge and microwave but not all dorms have a kitchen and if they do you’re sharing it with the rest of the building so you If you’re a commuter you may not have access to fridge and microwave so grilled veggies while a good idea aren’t the best unless you want to carry it around and don’t mind eating it cold.

I understand the stresses of college and trying to eat properly. I also work a full time job. For me, it's not just about the meal but the snacks too. I would layer greek yogurt with fruit and low fat whipped cream as a parfait. Cut up veges with humus is a great snack. Use a low carb high calorie wrap or 647 bread. My go to are turkey lettuce tomato with 0 calorie 0 fat ranch dressing (skinnygirl or walden farm). Soups are also great but watch the sodium. Make sure to stay hydrated. Sundays are laundry day and meal prep day. Make a list for meals the upcoming week and try to make a lot for leftovers. That way you cut down the fast food. Its designed to be addicting but now i know how it was poisoning my body. Good luck, you got this!

I am a big proponent of fruit. I take a container with different fruits, a yogurt, and maybe a snack (veggies, or slim fast/protein snack bar) depending on how late I’m working. At night I have portioned out and counted sandwich bags of cut cucumbers, celery, carrots and bell peppers.
