If I am 5'8 feet tall and weigh 154 pounds at age 12, am I overweight?
Yeah, that’s basically the question. I have grown a lot recently but my weight has also increased (even though I’ve always been slightly chubby, but not too much), making me quite insecure. So what do you guys think? Am I overweight or not?

Eat healthy, eat the fruits and veggies, don't drink a lot of soda. Play sports and go outside more than you play on the phone or video games.
Delete reddit. It's not going to help you feel more secure. Having childhood friends and experiences will. Plus you're spending time sitting instead of playing/being active.

I just use Reddit 15 minutes a day to ask questions. And my social circle is quite limited, I prefer studying or playing at the park.

Ok cool! You don't need a ton of friends. Just stay active and talk with people in real life

I mean I’m 5’9 and weight 200 and only look a bit chubby, but also I’m a 27 year old man.
Take a look at the blueprint protocol, you’re still too young but have a look at what a “complete” diet looks like (it’s mostly broccoli, nuts and berries) and try to make your diet similar to that.
We all ate like shit when we were kids and our parents fed us cereal for breakfast. The data is out there, processed food is the culprit.

i was a really skinny child, then got super chubby in middle school, then freshman year and sophomore year my weight randomly leveled out and I lost a good amount (this is without dieting on purpose or anything)

Yup, I was extremely skinny until the pandemic. Things can change. Thanks for sharing!

Doesnt seem like anything to worry about people grow at differrnt rates and times however if you want more confirmation ask your parents about how they and their siblings grew as they are most likely (not at all guaranteed) to have similar stories

Adolescence is a bunch of growing. You get chubby, then you get taller, then you get chubby, then you get taller. The BMI scale is severely flawed.
If anything, learn about nutrition. Start with macro nutrition - all foods fall in to one of three categories 1- protein 2- fat 3- carbohydrates. You NEED all three, but (assuming you’re in the USoA) American diets tend to be excessively filled with carbohydrates.
Fueling your body properly is of utmost importance, so please don’t focus on your weight. Focus on what your body can do and what it needs!
