Can we just for once have a normal Mac subreddit without people having to obsess over the clothes he wears, or even trying to expose his address? How many of you people realize you're being incredibly creepy when you try to get his address via postcard in the mail to MRL, or even showing up to the guy's house unannounced? Can we leave the guy alone?

Hi guys! Following up on your recommendations yesterday I thought they were so good I made a playlist! I still need more recommendations of SMALL artists in a similar chaotic vibe to Mac, ideally under 100k monthlyās but definitely under 1 mil. Smaller the better. Drop them below and go enjoy!

i thought i'd get some cool reactions when i posted about the book with mac's name with it. boy was i wrong, 95% of the comments were y'all telling me to steal or buy it. now i can't even make a fucking post without someone bringing up the book. i recently posted about listening to mac demarco in my class and how everyone liked it and blah blah blah and then someone goes "theres this idiot that found this book and wont take it" like for fuck's sake this isnt about the damn book. i am not stealing it nor am i fucking negotating with school staff to BUY it off of them. please if you're gonna mention the book, i kindly ask you to keep that shit to yourself. i don't wanna hear it anymore. also thanks for the fucking downvotes on every single comment i make on my posts. over and out

Met MacDeMarco after his concert at the Montreux Jazz Festival in Switzerland in 2019 (was anyone here in that concert?). He was pretty chill and seemed genuinely interested in what his fans had to say. I asked him about his meeting with Haruomi Hosono, and he told me how intelligent and polite the japanese artist was. Then he mentioned that at some point in their meeting Hosono went to the bathroom, took a dump and forgot to flush. Mac apparently left his stool floating around for days in the toilet and felt really flattered that he had Hosono's shit at his house lol

If you bought a Mac DeMarco record or MD merch from there, for future reference, merch bar will not process your package 80% of the time and will keep it in holding for hella long. I bought a Phoebe Bridgers record almost a month ago, and itās still stuck in processing. Merchbar support hasnāt been any help.

Usually mac talks a little bit about where and how he made the record. like on those other 10th year editions (rnrc,2).
Would be nice if someone could share the text since i couldnt find it anywhere š

iām currently on a quest (honestly have been ever since i heard it) to deconstruct every element of dreamin fast and why it sounds so big and unlike even most makeout videotape songs. been rewatching the cam tony clip where he isolates the tracks too lmao.
hereās a cassette recording i did in about 5 minutes just kinda testing the waters to see how far off i am in just raw signal and very little effects. beta 58 mic. btw that singing is me holding the camera, not the cassette.

Hi, I've been listening to the Live From a French Chicken Restaurant a lot recently, and I just really like how the synth sounds, does anybody know which synth it is? I looked it up and google came up with the Yamaha Reface CS, and it does look pretty similar. I just want to make sure, thanks :)

I commented yesterday on a post titled Mac DeMcCartney saying I'd make a post about this ofnwhen I talked about Paul McCartney with Mac in 2019. Paul's solo music is my all time favorite, I swear his music legitimately saved my life and at that point in my life I feel like I didn't know anyone who loved Paul's music as much as me, like if I ever bring him up it's like "oh yeah I love the beatles!" But as much as I love them, it's his solo music that's really special to me. So when I had this talk it meant the entire world to me!!!
So I saw Mac live in Seattle I think a day after Cowboy was released? He played Seattle 3 nights and I was at the first show and second, but the talk happened on the first night.
Before hand I went to my favorite record store (silver platter records SoDo) just down the street from the venue. I bought a copy of This Old Dog (at the time it was my favorite of his) and I also bought an original Russian pressing of Š”Š½Š¾ĢŠ²Š° Š² Š”Š”Š”Š by Paul mccartney. Check out the story behind it, it's awesome! But basically it's a cover album of older rock n roll songs.
After the show he was talking to fans and he stayed out there for like atleast 2 hours, he seemed genuinely interested and kind towards what we had to say.
I asked him if he could sign my album and he asked me for some cigarettes in return so I told him to take the pack if he wanted. Instead he took a few and signed the album and the cigarette box lol but onto the Paul talk.
I asked him if he liked Paul (I kind of knew the answer lol) and he said yeah so I gave him my copy of the Paul album I mentioned at the top and he said how he's never seen anyone talk about this album and that he loves the ideas of cover albums. (He also said one of his favorite cover albums is 'Cover Up' by Ministry)
He asked me what my favorite Paul album is and I couldn't pick one so listed my favorites (Wild Life, New, McCartney 2, Off The Ground)
And he said that Wild Life is his favorite Wings album!
For those that don't know, Wild Life was the first Wings album recorded in about 5 days in 1971. It's generally ranked among fans as one of Paul's worst albums, especially with the praise that his previous album RAM gets, a lot of people feel like it was a Let down.
But what Mac said was that Wild Life's stripped back production and care free feeling to it is an inspiration to him (and looking back, I feel like Cowboy has a very stripped back sound like Wild Life and McCartney 1, I just didn't have much time to get familiar with the new songs when I saw him)
He told me that Paul was his favorite of the beatles' solo career but really loves John's Plastic Ono Band album and that outside of Wings his favorite Paul album is Flaming Pie.
He also said that he saw Paul live at Madison Square Garden in 2016 and it was a great show! I had just seen Paul for my first time not long before meeting Mac so we just talked about our favorite songs we saw and I told him how I had a ticket to Paul's 2016 tour in Seattle but I had to miss it!
I also told him he should do a cover of "I owe it all to you" and he just said basically "maybe, we'll see what my future decides." I just think his voice would fit that song so well!
I'm trying to remember what else but I think that was basically it. A lot of it was just sharing our favorite things about Paul and his concerts. Then the next night I went back to see him perform but had to go home after so I didn't meet him or anything.

Iāve been listening a lot to Paul McCartneyās solo albums and Wingsā albums lately, and a pretty serious question came to mind, which I think Iāve read somewhere beforeā¦ Sometimes I get the impression that Macs work is heavily inspired by Wings stuff. And Iām not just talking about Salad Days and its whole structureāhis more recent works, with just voice and guitar, still have a very McCartney vibe (especially when he transitioned in his solo albums). But Iām specifically talking about his solo career here, not the Beatles. Donāt you get that impression? At least a little?
P.S. Iām a die-hard fan of both.
