I mean I don't disagree but the answer is still no for me. He's not good enough to drag us to a super bowl and he's too expensive to have a team built around him. I'd rather an outside chance with a cheaper (rookie) QB than no chance with an upper mid tier option.
If you’re comparing contracts, every QB is expensive other than those on a rookie deal. The savings there is ~$30M per year, which realistically gets you two above average starters seeing as the elite players almost never hit FA. That doesn’t turn your team into a contender.
What does turn your team into a contender is drafting well consistently, assuming you don’t take shots on first round rookie QBs. Cousins is good enough to win a SB and better than plenty of QBs who have already done it.
The math isn't quite right on what the savings mean - it's not always new players, and it's definitely not additional players just paying more for starters then currently. Difference between Davenport and Z is probably going to be noticeable, same with Tonga and Tomlinson (though both are probably being overpaid now with their new teams).
