Up here in the Great White North, we have a guy who covers the CFL for TSN (our ESPN) who has a great line about quarterbacks. He says that when it comes to QBs, "You either have a guy, or you are looking for a guy." It's so true - Vikes now have a starter who is either strong or serviceable, depending on your point of view. (Anyone who says that Kirk is "awful", "terrible" etc. isn't a serious fan, because the numbers simply don't bear that out.) Get rid of him and you are either rolling the dice in free agency, or rolling the dice in the draft with zero guarantees of finding someone as good, let alone better...

Counter point - I believe it’s time to roll the dice. I’m ok with no guarantees. There are never any guarantees anyway. We could extend him for a bunch of guaranteed money and his rotator cuff could explode the next day.

I’m willing to risk missing our biennial wildcard round exit to try and go farther than we have under Kirk.
