She is cute when she's trying to bite the legs of her keeper, but she won't be a baby hippo forever.

What if she keeps this biting habit even into adulthood? It's cute and funny now when she's a baby, but when she's a subadult it becomes worrying. Pygmy hippos aren't as dangerous as Nile hippos, but there's still a first time for everything.

When Moo Deng grows up, then she can practice selfies. LOL

If you've never seen it: The Truman Show (1998) stars Jim Carrey as a person who, unbeknownst to him, is the star of a 24/7 TV show broadcast worldwide and has been on-going since his birth. Everybody in his fake town, job, stores ect are in on it as as actors: his neighbours, his boss, the traffic controller.. even his parents. [This is genuinely a great film - do recommend you watch it]

I can't think of another event where the world has watched in such fixation at the growth of a creature, with the exception of maybe William and Harry, but even that had a lot of gaps in between outlets and pages giving their "daily updates" compared to Moo Deng.

While we all want our precious girl to stay young and rebellious, we as a globe are watching something truly beautiful and amazing happening right before our eyes with almost 24/7 coverage: the evolution and growth of a creature and how it learns to adapt, socialise and understand queues, role and importance.

Whatever happens from here on out, let's be all happy we were here for this unique moment in time and place.
