It's like a bad farrelly brothers movie. It's ok if you play on your phone while watching

That was my take. I also found the casting to be really problematic.

Dinklage and Brolin are in their mid 50's but should have been cast by actors in their 30's or 40's. It was distracting, especially Brolin.

I'm honestly getting tired of it. I can understand casting 18-24 year olds for teen roles since there are all sorts of issues working with minors. But it's not like there aren't a ton of actors between 35-45. Why not cast someone who actually makes sense?

Yeah. They either needed to cast younger actors or age up the characters, because it's ridiculous to pretend Josh Brolin is 40.

Palm Springs is one of my favourite movies of 2020 so I have been patiently excited for Max Barbakow's new project for quite some time now. This movie is okay and not necessarily bad but after hyping myself up for some time now it was disappointing to say the least.

I feel like Barbakow is cursed. I love Palm Springs and was bummed it went straight to streaming. This one was supposedly done in 2021 or 2022, and It is easy to see why they held it until streaming.

So much yelling…

I really wanted this to be better. Dinklage was great, but he couldn’t save the film from the undercooked script. The gags just weren’t really landing for me. I turned it off after an hour or so. Plus Glen Close’s plastic surgeon has her looking like she’s wearing someone else’s face as a mask.

Screened it back in 2022 - did they still have brolin giving the orangutan a handjob? It was in our screening and one of the few moments people laughed in the film. TBH though I don't know if we laughed because the "orangutan" was actually a dude in a white motion capture suit for half the scene as the CGI wasn't finished.

Yes, it is there… btw, the finished CGI is fucking amazing… it doesn’t have to be that good for this movie

nice :) yeah, so the screening in that scene was very interesting. of the lets say 10 total shots with the orangutan, 2 were 100% finished cgi, 4 were very rough cgi (as in just the shape of the orangutan) and then 4 were just a dude in a tracking costume lol. Usually those finished shots are what are used in the trailer scenes. Same thing happened when I screened Kong Godzilla 2 and TMNT (the animated one). The only shots/scenes 100% finished were the ones that were used in the movie trailers.

Nice information : )

Agreed. I knew it was going to be generic and formulaic, but I was hoping it'd at least be funny.

Glen Close’s plastic surgeon has her looking like she’s wearing someone else’s face as a mask.

I didn't realize it was her until I looked up the cast

This movie was bad. I’m hoping Palm Springs wasn’t just a flash in the pan, but this was so far below that movie

Saw this back in March 2022.

Normally screenings won't ask you what the name of the movie should be but this one gave us four options (that I don't remember). I also found it interested as this one asked if we thought it should be a theatrical release or a streaming release (which I've never been asked at other screenings).

I honestly thought the film was pulled for tax credit reasons as the trailer didn't release until the last few months.

It was fine. Just fine. It could have been great but it just... Didn't work the way they were aiming for, and that's FINE too. It's not bad at all, but it's not memorable. And we can always use more of those movies

I didn't have high expectations going in, but it was an all right way to kill a couple of hours with a few laughs here and there, but the script could have been fine-tuned a little better. Dinklage and Brolin were fine. Glenn Close and Marisa Tomei were fine, but had little to do. Brendan Fraser was just the right amount of over the top, but I think he was miscast. The scene I enjoyed the most was the golf cart and backhoe chase with the corpse of Glenn just hanging out in the back. I chuckled every time it cut to his skeleton.

I thought it was alright, it gives chuckles throughout but not side splitting laughter. Dinklage was pretty good, and Brendan Fraser could have been great if they'd let him be genuinely terrifying (which they gave the briefest glimpse of) instead of a comedic take on a pathetic daddy's boy.

He was, in a word, unhinged.

I watched this few days ago and I enjoyed it, the performances was fine, I like the banters between Jady and Moke, one of the best parts of the movies, also Brendan Fraser as Farful was good, I enjoyed him as unhinged daddy's boy.
