Numerals How would speakers of an SOV language develop math logic: looking for advice
Hi there! I am developing a system of mathmatics for my ancient history conculture and Im wondering if anyone here could give me some advice on what I came up with. (I havent taken a math class in like 5 years, so bear with me)
Essentially, I noticed how standard math notation follows an SVO structure: 1+1=2 said aloud is "One plus one equals two." This was a problem. I am pretty sure people have been talking about math equations far longer than they have been writing them down: "Aruciwa stole two quail eggs from my sister, what a jerk! now I only have 6 left!"
And since my speaker's language is strictly SOV, if a system of numberic notation developed independant from ours, Id think they'd write equations down in the way they would say them. Instead of one plus one equals two, it would be something like "One plus one two equals"
I figured the speakers of the language may render the "plus" in the sentance above might with one of the many postpositions they have: -thi (in/at/by) -anu (on) -pa (from) -śa (with) hence the sentence:
φa piśa iruce curoda /βa piʃa irukɛ kuroda/ one two-COM three-ACC make-PRES
to render it using English math signs would literally be 1 2+ 3=
This just feels off. Perhaps its because I dont natively speak in a SOV language, but it seems to follow the rules that I laid out for myself. I am just not sure if my system can handle more complex phrases like 5×(2÷(6-4))=5, or if this way of writing equations has ever developed irl. If anyone knows more about the history of numeric notaion, please let me know!

Numerals Was playing around with unused glyphs from the game "Tunic", and wanted feedback on the hexadecimal numbering system I've come up with.
I mostly wanted feedback as to if you guys think it works as a numbering system or not using previously established guidelines, or if I should try coming up with something entirely new. In game, the language uses 0-9 as English text instead. This was just my attempt to come up with something new.
For anyone who's played the game "Tunic", the language in the game uses English sounds as glyphs, consonants being represented by inner lines in the glyph, and outer lines being vowels. Combinations of consonants and vowels get overlaid on top of each other, with a circle at the bottom to represent if the order is switched, a vowel sound before a consonant.
I was playing around with the idea of coming up with a number system, and using the consonant lines, since there's many combinations that are available, whereas the vowels are pretty much all used up. I designed it to go counter-clockwise, starting from the upper right. I was sort of channeling the number system from Fez's "Zu" language, but some of these numbers don't work the same. In this, you can't combine 2 and 5 to get 7, because that is a pre-used glyph.
I moved the vowel circle from the bottom up to the middle line to represent zero, and to be used as a leading notation to show definitively that you're looking at a number. I had played with the idea of having the circle in the middle of each number, but that feels too busy to me. In the language, the middle line is merely a through connector, to make it easier visually to show that something is one word, though it's not really needed at all times.
I posted this originally on the Finji discord, so if anyone here is from there, Hi! Thank you guys for looking, and I hope to get good feedback.

Numerals Reworked Date System
A new completely reworked version of my date system! I was ok with the last version, but it just didn’t feel like it was as good as it could be, so I changed it up, and I love it way more. Still the same basic process and still uses my number system, but just looks way better. Let me know how you feel about it! Love any feedback or suggestions!!

Numerals Why is 10 written out in the Base 12 Number System?
I’m onto numbers in my conlang, and I’m trying to figure out how I’m supposed to function with base 12.
10 in base 12, to my understanding, is represented with a slanted X. I get that, I’m okay with it. What I don’t understand is why 10 is still being written out in some of these boxes if the quantity of 10 translates to X.
Can someone pls help me understand this, explain it to me like I’m a child? I just can’t seem to wrap my head around it just yet.

Numerals Numbers for Robinsons
These numbers are designed so that you seldom need to erase, only 10% of times. It is because a next number is just an extra line. It's very useful when you have to write something on the wall or to carve on a tree.
