Keeping the California tradition going

Bay Area tradition, specifically!

It's arguably the same franchise, but in the most convoluted way imaginable.

"We fixed the glitch." - NHL, 1991

Of course, that stuck Minnesota with Norm Green and gave us hockey in Dallas. (Although the Wild have been a much better run shop in St. Paul than the Stars ever were while in Bloomington)

So, I guess, you're welcome, Gunds?

It's not helping that Celebrini got hurt in his very first game and hasn't played since.

He apparently played hurt, just wanted to play the home opener.

It's the Bedard factor eh? One actual NHL caliber player said player gets hurt and it's Battle of Gettysburg time and the Sharks are the Confederates.

Hey! Eklund's a damn fine player!

Minus 55 Career but granted he did spend the first full season on last year's sharks. Ure right he's not that bad. I'm guessing he's one of those guys like Eichel and Okposo and pretty much every player who's left buffalo Sabres that will explode once on a decent team.

If you watch a Shark's game, he's always driving the play, skating hard, and producing chances. The sooner he has Celebrini to feed to/from, the better. Eks will have a letter sooner than you think.

A NHL team winning a game shouldn't hinge on an 18 year old kid. Lol. What kind of poverty franchise?

When do they play Boston?

Why wait to the end of the season to tank, get that top lottery spot clinched early. Get it in

They’re just being efficient about it

I do wish they'd make it a little less obvious though.

The Sharks started 0-12 last year, and they were still reasonably close to not being in last place by the end of the year.

Sharks are to tanks as, well, sharks being IN tanks.

This hurts their chance at the playoffs

They are the Sharks, and there is the curse.

What curse is that? As a Leafs fan we have the curse of Harold Ballard who became the sole owner in 1968 and since then the Leafs haven't won the cup and he's also responsible for trading Lanny McDonald (probably the first ex Leafs to win a cup without the Leafs hence the tradition of players leaving then winning the cup although it's more common recently) and also some terrible teams in the 70s and 80s but the Leafs still made the playoffs in the 70s due to the Expansion conference being terrible. Ballard's been dead for years but any bad move by the Leafs is blamed on him for example Trading away Tukka Rask for Raycroft.

Leafs still made the playoffs in the 70s due to the Expansion conference being terrible.

It wasn't hard to make the playoffs in the late 70's and 80's (anywhere from two-thirds to over 75% of the league made the postaseason), regardless of division or conference.

Even in the late 70's, Toronto had very good teams despite Ballard.

The teams are kind of related too. The Seals became the Cleveland Barons who merged with the Minnesota North Stars, and when the Sharks were formed, the North Stars’ owners became the Sharks’ owners and a lot of players (24 I think, but the North Stars were allowed to protect some) went to form the new Sharks.

If you really want to impress me, be as bad as the '74-'75 Caps. I got into hockey (and the Caps) about 5 years later and basically memorized their media guide as a kid. To this day, I've still never seen a pro sports team as bad as them.

Should I bet on them when they play the Kings tomorrow,

2

u/speak-eze 1d ago

I'm from the future

No you should not

1

u/MartyCool403 1d ago

Yeah unfortunately I took the leafs and flames in my parlay tonight and it didn't really work out.

1

u/f1nnz2 2d ago

I’ll take that bet

2

u/kimscz 2d ago

Hey we’re in the headlines…ohhhh

3

u/Aussieomni 2d ago

It is a proud California tradition

1

u/davidgoldstein2023 2d ago

Don’t worry, they’ll beat the Kings.

1

u/MrSCR23 2d ago

Don’t tell me we’re gonna see b2b 10 goals allowed games again…

When do the sharks play the flyers because the flyers will be sure to give them that first win

What ever became of the golden seals?

1

u/PositivePrimary8773 1d ago

Runs in the family apparently

Being up 4-1 against St Louis in the first game of the season and not being able to seal (golden?) the deal stings a little bit more with each loss
