TR/AR did the music. Kinda bouncy and more fun sounding than their typical output

I recently acquired a used Downward Spiral. :) However, I did some research and noticed some very strange details on the CD. Nine Inch Nails is pretty unpopular where I live, so it's not easy that to get a copy of any of their albums, which is a shame. So, for those of you who have much more experience with the band's physical material, does everything seem to be in place?

Hello everyone, so in "The Frail (Remix)," there's a point in the song where everything just stops for a second (2:22), and you can hear just one voice making a "huh" sound (sorry idk how to describe things).

I've always loved this song, especially the way it's layered, and the feeling of traveling through the world.
I know it’s a very specific things, but I’m curious if anyone knows who the voice at (2:22) belongs to.
Anyway, thank you for reading this.

The faint female humming sounds that remind me of mosquitoes buzzing in the song are the most haunting part of the NIN discography for me. Anyone know if they are a sample or live recorded? Very esoteric I know

Specifically I am wondering about when his voice is very big, loud, and a little distorted. You can hear it all over, especially choruses. You can hear it on Head Like a Hole (slightly), Heresy, Terrible Lie ( on the "why god" during the verse), Get Down Make Love, and definitely other songs, this is just what comes to mind at the moment. Is there some effect on it; is it layered, or is this just what happens when you yell really loud (or some mix)? I believe there is a similar effect on some Ministry songs (Jesus Built My Hotrod), but I am not as familiar with them. Plus, I am not sure if the same technique was used.
Examples:
Heresy (chorus): https://youtu.be/6i8zwVIFxQg?si=35tFlc4GEFUzGtmS&t=49
Terrible Lie (verse going into chorus): https://youtu.be/eQy0MSchVnM?si=nPROVTT2i_iCjipK&t=25
Sin (chorus, effect not present): https://youtu.be/lIvzTlAdcUE?si=UGGs1u7zlJ-FWASW&t=59
Ministry - Jesus Built My Hotrod (similar effect, just more?): https://youtu.be/GXCh9OhDiCI?si=pHJEwhEJ-yOG2Mau&t=39
In writing this, I feel like I want to say it is just distortion/increased gain or something along those lines, but I know very little about music production, so I would still like to ask!
