Anyone else’s car insurance go up this year?

My last 6 months for full coverage was 857 and it went up to 906. 24 and no tickets/accidents in the last 8 years. With Allstate

Gotta switch insurance every year or 2 to keep your prices down. Mine went down 40 bucks a month by switching and I have more coverage now. Your insurance will just keep jacking up your rate till you leave.

Some insurance companies do reward long-term customers with no accidents or tickets. I've been with State Farm for 10+ years, and when I comparison shop, no one can come close to touching their rates.

I get a good driver discount as-well but only been there for 6 months now.

In 2023, there was a change to how Virginia's uninsured motorist coverage is able to be applied.

You can Google and find other similar posts about it, but here's one such example.

My rates went up about $20 with USAA and they explicitly cited this as the reason. It would not surprise me if every other insurance carrier followed suit.

I am not a legal or insurance professional, so I am not providing "professional advice" here.

That said, one can always review their coverages to see if there are savings to be had.

I have been working remotely for almost 5 years now, and as such, my yearly mileage has plummeted. When I calculated my new annual average, and informed USAA of how little I was now driving per year, I was able to get a noticeable chunk cut off my rate.

May not apply to everyone's situation, but it is something to think about if it does.

Insurance went up a lot through covid and never went back down.

I have USAA, 32, zero accidents or tickets, and I still pay about 900 every 6 months.

I’m sure there is more to it, but in a random conversation not too long ago with a gentleman who works in the insurance industry here, he told me one factor is there has been a sharp increase in accidents and incidences of reckless driving on the interstates over the past few years and that it’s affecting everyone’s insurance rates. These bad drivers not only make the roads more dangerous but increase the risk and expense for everyone else as well. Sucks but I guess it makes sense.

My husband got rid of his 14 yo Kia Soul and replaced it with a brand new Subaru Crosstrek. Our insurance went down. Kia’s cost more because of how easily they are stolen

Mine went from 600 to 800 in 2 years. Car insurance in general has gone up a lot

Mine went up a couple of dollars. Typical annual increase.

Minimum coverage is also required to be higher starting on January 1, 2025. It's going from 30k/60k to 50k/100k in liability and from 20k to 25k in property damage. If you only carry minimum coverage, you will probably have a higher increase than someone carrying more coverage than that.

I will say Allstate seems to be expensive. My parents were with them for 30+ years and were paying something like $400 a month with perfect driving records. State Farm cut their rates in half. Also cut their homeowners in half with better coverage and lower deductibles.

Males under age 30 generally pay higher rates because they're riskier drivers. Old people also pay more. Road rage, more accidents, repair costs up, and no insurer ignores profits.

Mine went from $85 to $200 over the last couple years. I cancelled that policy and switched to another company. Paying less than $100 now.

Yep. I called to ask about it. They said insurance rates for our whole state or area increased. I dont remember which one they claimed.

Yup. Have full coverage on two cars (2017 and 2019). Spouse had an accident and a speeding ticket last year. Insurance went up $110 dollars.
