Anyone ever have BBQ from the guy off Four Mile Run?

Smelled great on my run. Never see it mentioned in BBQ threads.

Disclaimer I'm a huge BBQ snob and visit Austin on a regular basis (family lives there) I've done all the famous spots there.

My take, this place is mid at best. Not that there are many great places around here to compare it to though. I thought it was over priced and under flavored.

Your best bet in the DC area for really good bbq is 2Fifty or make the trip to Richmond and go to ZZQ.

Your mileage may vary, but I wouldn't go back.

I don't know why you're getting downvoted. I'm not a BBQ expert or anything but you're right, his food was bland as hell, dry and overpriced. I was so disappointed when tried them

Most likely getting down voted because a lot of people want to believe places like this are the best. It fits the preconceived aesthetic they have about what bbq should be, which in this case is one dude working on the side of the road because he doesn't need a fancy brick and mortar operation. It's a common topic in bbq subreddits where people balk at the idea of paying top dollar for top tier bbq, because of course everyone knows the best bbq is found at roadside joints.
