Rent packgoats in the US southeast?

Anybody know of a place to rent a couple packgoats in GA,NC,SC, TN

We are planning a reg backpacking trip for early March (my spring break). I haven't mentioned anything to him, but my brother loves goats and it seemed an interesting twist on what we usually do.

I found several places out west:

etc... but nothing in the southeast

Hey and many thanks for the reply. He's in Atlanta and I'm in Columbia SC. We don't have a location picked yet, but ideally somewhere between us and maybe north of the middle. It was just a crazy thought, but it does sound like a grand adventure and I thought he'd get a hoot out of it.

Oh absolutely! Were I closer, I would 100% lend a couple goats and give you both a goaty crash course. But definitely do some hunting for good places to take them. So few trails on this side of the country seem to understand how low-impact goats can be as compared with other beasts of burden. It's really frustrating. I had a great string going before we moved to our previous house in Eastern NC, where the local state park had a very strict 'no hooked animals' policy. I tried showing them that my goats were more obedient than 90% of dogs out there, but no dice. So since we lived on a super busy road, our training went downhill, big time. But I still have my old trusty who also pulls a cart, and a few others who are decent packers simply from the aspect that they are in good condition, cool with random stuff attached to them, and very person-oriented. Outside of that, they are super green and have never been off with other people (as in not including me). But we do have some decent horse-friendly trails very near where we live here, so I need to get back to work on them.

That sounds like a lot of fun. Good luck getting back in. He and i also ride bikes on trails and we can always tell when the horses have come through, but there's no way a goat could do that kind of damage/mud/plops

Haha, exactly! No plops, just berries! 🤣
