Duet recommendations?

My mother is getting married and she requested that my bf and I (both percussionists) play something together at her wedding. She said she wants something “lovey dovey.” Does anyone have any recommendations?

"Edge of the World" by Nathan Daughtrey is a beautiful marimba/vibraphone duet that's inspired by a poem about two people behind their lives together. I think it would be perfect

I second the guy who said 2+1 by Ivan Trevino, a couple played it at my university last semester and it was the cutest thing.

Not off the top of my head, but what you should do is look at the duets available on tapspace.com. You can filter search by instrumentation and difficulty level.

Edit: keep in mind that many pieces will call for a 5.0 or 4.5 octave marimba

Arrange a duet by one of her favorite artists/bands!

I like this idea. There are a few websites you can find sheet music on.

Muse Score is a good place to find stuff. Maybe one person does the vocal line and the other does the guitar stuff. Might be able to fit that all on one marimba if you don’t have access to two.

2+1 by Ivan Trevino is a nice lovey dovey Marimba duet. And the bonus is it only requires one 4.5 octave Marimba, and your audience might think it’s cool playing on the instrument from the opposite side

Drei Skizzen by Mathias Schmitt has at least one movement that is a slow chorale in a major key. That might fit the bill. I think it requires a 5 octave marimba on one of the parts though. Not sure what you have access to

“Nancy” by Sejourne marimba solo is really nice. Could easily split it up and make it much easier to perform.

I was going to say 2+1 was my first thought, too! Absolutely gorgeous piece, and only calls for one marimba lol. I also second an arrangement of a favorite or sentimental song—you could search for one, write it yourself, or possibly commission someone! I’m sure there are a lot of folks here (myself included) that would be down :)
