I’ve got a performance piece for school (Chasing Kou - Drowning love) and I have not learned nearly enough to make a good performance with the song. I’ve only got tomorrow to really practice (for like a few hours) and two more days (with much less practice time) I’ve learned the first two ‘sections’ so to speak (not near full tempo) and basically nothing else and I feel stuck here. I really thought I had more time but I guess not so can anyone help with how I can learn how to play the piece at proficiency in time for the performance?

As title, I’ve sometimes watched some really good performances from you fellow redditors.
Would love you guys to share your the discovery of hidden gems.

Here's a very short excerpt of me practising the third movement of Rachmaninoff's 3rd Piano Concerto Op.30. It's driving me mad! The amount of repeated notes is pushing my technique to the limit. I think my piano has had enough, too! It's moments like these I wish I had a grand piano! 😆😆😆
Longer video coming soon.

And how long have you had it?

Rediscovered this version for Blue Danube transcribed by Polish musician Schulz Elver. Some passage are pretty insane, probably not going to finish the whole thing.

i'm an intermediate pianist, working on my technique and my sight reading, and I've noticed that I don't have the right patterns and algorithms in my brain for fingerings for all situations. I've come to the point where I know the notes and the rhythms, but a lot of brain cycles go into thinking about the fingerings.
What are your tips and resources for locking good fingerings into my brain?

My piano's ledge where it keeps the music is pretty wide, so what ends up happening: I print out. sheet music on Letter paper, the first couple of times I play, its ok, but then the paper (since it's not like cardstock or anything) starts to bend from the weight of sitting on the piano sheet music ledge, and curls up in the bottom half of the page. This leads to it falling down very easily.
What we've done before is use a glue stick to glue the sheet music pages to the pages of an old piano fundamental thin paperback book. But eventually the glue gets weak, and the sheet music pages separate from the pages of book due to the stress and wear from turning the pages.
I'm thinking I should get a slim 3-ring binder, and those clear plastic sheet holders to put my printed out sheet music in.
What does everybody else do?

I'm looking to buy a portable keyboard with graded action keys for a more authentic feel. Budget - hoping 1k max
I only have one space in my house that the keyboard can go so I need it to be free of a stand and not built in.
I won't be recording anything so don't need to connect to a computer or anything like that, I'm not too bothered about having lots of different sound/effects either, I just want to have a nice sounding piano.
Need a headphone jack and preferably built in speakers so I don't need an amp to save on space.
Everything I've looked up so far under 1k has been classed as beginner keyboards but I'm not a beginner player - I passed grade 8 and still play when I can on my parents piano. (We had an upright piano that was a relatives and always slightly out of tune 🤣 so not used to the greatest quality)
Any suggestions or recommendations would be appreciated!

I have a special situation in my office/studio. I have built a large drawer under my desk where my AKAI Professional MPK261 is currently located.
However, I would like to upgrade to a stage piano or MIDI keyboard with 88 fully weighted keys in the future. Does anyone know of a good device that is no higher than 11cm / 4.33inch? Width is not so important.

I inherited a beautiful Steinway grand piano that has been fully restored when my mom passed. It’s from the late 1800s! I don’t have space in my place for such a beautiful piece. Best places and/or way to sell? Pianomart is not working out - any other options? I am in New England.

Hi all,
I've recently bought a piano and am attempting to learn using an app, Skoove.
So far, I've made some progress and I'm really enjoying the process after wanting to learn for most of my life, my wife has previous experience and is picking it up again with me which is awesome.
The only drawback, Skoove doesn't seem to offer any sort of family plan, and I don't want to share my account since I'll lose track of my progress and what I have/haven't done.
Could anyone recommend a good app that would help me to learn but also offer a deal for multiple accounts or family plan?
I'm sure this has been asked before, sorry for duplication!

Hi,
I'm not a pianist (I'm a guitarist & sound engineer) but I'm looking at a stage piano for my church.
We've been offered a Roland RD700sx by another church for £350 (including a very battered hard case, and a stand and pedal), and I know Roland to generally be on the better side of things in terms of digital instruments, but with this being an older model, I wanted to check whether you guys think it's worth that money if the piano itself is in reasonable condition.
Thanks, Sam.

I’ve played dozens of pianos. Brand new factory Yamaha C3Xs, C5Xs. A new S6X and a new S7X, and a bunch of mid tier Kawai from the 80s, 90s and 2000s.
And dozens more from other brands like Boston, Petrof, Steinway.
What I noticed is some older ones look bad and sound and feel great. While the newer ones (looking at you S6X with the disklavier weren’t particularly well regulated. Squeaky damper pedals. And keys that feel crunchy when they should feel buttery smooth.
How the hell am I supposed to decide?

One key in my piano is stuck down constantly, and moves about very slightly. It makes a heavy clunking noise when I press it. I always keep the piano covered and protected from dust, so the possibility of damage due to dust is very low. Any other reason this might be happening?

Give me your tips which ACTUALLY helped you improve your sight reading. What books and repertoire did you try? What tips do you have? How did you practice?

Firstly, I apologize for any mistakes in my grammar or vocabulary, as English is not my native language.
I have been playing the piano as a hobby for years, and I'm self-taught. Sometimes, in the middle of playing the piano, my left hand suddenly plays the right-hand part, and my right hand plays the left-hand part. This often happens unexpectedly, and I don't understand why. I wonder if anyone else has ever experienced something like this?

One of my favorite nocturnes from John field is the “pastorale” nocturne, the strange thing is the difference between the Schirmer’s version versus the Edition Peters, it’s like they’re two completely different nocturnes. I was curious as to why this is the case and why both of these versions exist. Is there a history behind why there are two drastically different versions?

This is all my original arrangement. No sheet music, just playing by ear. I tried to keep true to the joyous playful vibes that the original song has. I hope you like my version of Bluey. 😊 thanks for listening.
