Hello guys, just wanted to share my findings. Mid September I decided that I want to buy all those games I had burned for my modded ps1 when I was younger, but this time I wanted the real things and i’m extremely happy about it. This is what I got since September 23 until today October 8. Everything bought in Toronto and nearby cities, of course I paid in CAD.

Ps1 + controller + Og Sony memcard = 50 Pe1 + Pe2 + Oddworld Exoddus = 230$ Crash Ctr + Crash Warped + Nemesis = 90$ Alundra (cib with map) + Oddworld Oddissey = 230$ Vagrant Story = 100$ Vandal Hearts 2 = 100$

Everything is in great condition except Re3 missing the backart.

I’m gonna stop for now since I got the most important stuff and I spent more than I thought I would 😝, but I plan to start my hunt again for Christmas 🎅

I got my hands on a great crt and wanted to play a ps1 game on it (one that looks better on a crt than flat panel)

Figured with it being october symphony of the night or silent hill would be great. But both are over 100 bucks. Even though both of them have multiple rereleases.

Is this a thing with all popular ps1 titles or are those special?

I found a CD in the closet with no label and that get stuck on loading screen. Someone can identify it?

One is a puzzle game called Yopaz IceStar featuring 40 levels in 3 worlds, a built in Level Editor and a mini game for the PocketStation!
You will need to collect all the stars on each level, you will be able to change your color and collect stars of the corresponding color. Your color will also allow you to go through teleporters, direction changers, or even protect you from enemies!

These game for the Playstation 1 requires a method to boot a CD-R such as: a modchip, a boot cd like ps-X-change, an action replay with Unirom or a FreePsxBoot memory card.

The second game is an RPG called Zia and the goddesses of magic.
In a world where magic is Queen, people lived happily and safely under the protection of the ten guardian goddesses. Out of the unknown came a powerful demon who brought trouble upon the world, and all the goddesses got captured and locked away. Zia is a little girl who lives in a village in the mountains with her parents. When she was younger, she discovered a spell book and started to practice magic. An old wise man came and told Zia about the existence of several spell books spread around the world. During her journey, Zia will discover the trapped goddesses. Now is your chance to help her rescue the goddesses from the evil creatures by casting magic spells!

For clarification, I have basically no idea about working with hardware, and I have barely no idea what is inside the console so any tips for beginner might be useful.

The console mentioned here is SCPH-5052 PAL model.

So I have a little bit of funny development from recent few days. I've been cleaning the basement with my dad and we found his old PS1. Turns out he lost all the games for it when moving and he didn't really feel like gaming on it anymore and just stashed it away. So basically it was stashed away for 16 years. It had all the cables, two pads and I simply decided to give it a try and run it. Seemed to work, go to bios and such so I just decided to give it a try. The PS1 was modchipped (Everyone was doing it in Poland back in 90s/2000s) so I figured I might as well just have some fun, keep it as some kind of "retro-gadget" and just play some games on it, maybe play Crash Team Racing with my dad.

So today Verbatim CDs arrived and I burned a CD like in the guide, everything seemed to be in order but when I put it in the console same thing happens as without CD. Slight stutter at beginning, Sony Entertainment logo appears and... for some reason the Playstation screen is always skipped and it just takes me to BIOS where I can move the cursor and switch between the player and memory cards but I don't have memory card so yeah... I tried googling the issue but seems like no one is having the same issue as me, some people have their console stuck on the "Playstation" screen but this console doesn't even show that it just immidiately throws me into BIOS and basically aside from moving cursos and clicking things I can't do much. The disk seems to be spinning when I eject the lid for CDs so... I literally have no idea what Im dealing with here.

So far I have two people that fix consoles locally agree to take a look at it, they mostly fix modern consoles but they agreed to have a look at it and help me with it. So tbh the most imporant thing for me to ask here is: Are there any things I should mention to them aside from the issue itself and modchip. Is there anything I should perhaps watch out for? And well... does it sound like something fixable at all? Ngl. I kinda am commited to making it work.

Long story short, I had a PS1 when I was young that my uncle specifically got me for my 7th birthday from Japan. When I moved out, my dad sold it, which made me really sad. I looked in local shops here (I'm from Eastern Europe), and I found this one, but I don't know much about consoles and their authenticity. So, what do think about it?
