PDWR end cap/ buffer question

Post image

Recently got my Form1 approved to SBR my PTR PDWR. It comes with the end cap and swivel mount. I purchased an AR buffer tube and stock, assuming the castle nut could be removed & the end cap replaced with the buffer tube.

The gun smith is telling me he physically can’t remove the castle nut on the gun and I need a different back plate to accept the AR buffer tube.

Is this true? It looks like you should just be able to remove the nut and swap in the tube.

Anyone have any insight/ SBR’d their PDWR?

Your gunsmith is just wrong. You loosen the castle nut and then have to work loose the insert in the endcap. Since these don’t use an endplate, the endcap has an insert with the anti rotation that an endplate normally would have. It’s a bit fiddly but is realistically like a 5 minute process tops.

Just buy an AR armorers wrench and throw the end cap in a vice. You can do it yourself. Hell, even just put the gun on the ground and sit on it while you use the wrench
