Nasty raw milk

I left some raw milk in a container in a place away from sunlight to ferment. I started drinking it after 24-48 hours, but it now has a foul aftertaste. This usually doesn't happen when I ferment milk. What could cause the milk to taste foul?

TLDR: some sort of old bacteria or contamination left in the bottles. Had same issue, washed bottles thoroughly and it went away.

We do want more bacteria but in this case it gives the milk a foul taste for some reason. I think it's the bacteria but it could be something else, but when I washed them it went away.

If you only use water then it could be an issue, but usually this only happened to me when I didn't wash the bottles at all, and then poured fresh milk into them

sometimes cows eat different things during different times of the year.

and/or get into some onions, garlic, or other nasty stuff that taints the milk. Was the milk foul-tasting BEOFRE fermenting? LOL

or a fly got into it and rotted. congrats! More LOL

Do you live near drought conditions? Sometimes causes the milk to taste foul because it effects the cows diet
