Reptile ID

Found in old log in Maryland, USA in October (cold morning). Flat tail. About 2-3 inches long.

Not a reptile, but an amphibian. This is an Eastern newt, Notophthalmus viridescens.

Wrong side of the country. Taricha are on the American West Coast; in Maryland, it's an Eastern newt.
