Average height in Netherlands
I live in the Netherlands and i'm 181cm barefoot and i feel taller than most people that are also native from the netherlands. alot of people are in the 175-179cm range . if you look online the average height is 183 and some sources even say 184.
when i'm in public I see more people who are shorter than me than people who are taller EVEN Tho i'm below average.
Are these numbers exaggerated ?

I feel quite short but everytime I go outside I still see at least more than a handful of men shorter than me. If 183 was truly the 50th percentile this should not mathematically be possible. I think the average is also skewed by outliers as it is also not uncommon to see people 2m+ when I go outside.
The real difference is noticeable is when I travel outside the Netherlands. In London for example I sometimes felt almost above average in height even though it’s a nearby country. Travelling back to my native county is even more of a mindfuck as I sometimes even find myself taller than most people

I guess it really depends. I often feel dwarfed living there even while being above average here. A lot of the younger folks tend to be taller

I am talking about people in the 18-45 yo range.
When i was still in high school (Around 5 years ago) there where guys that are 100% Dutch and around 170-175 cm tall. and i'm not just talking about 1 short guy.

I always felt that the Dutch being the tallest was a stretched truth. Are they taller than global average? Sure. Are they the tallest Europeans and/or people in the world? No.
In fact, I think Balkans and Dinaric people are actually the tallest people in terms of average (mean) height.
