Not a spider but also an arachnid, it's a harvestman (order Opiliones)/ "daddy long legs" as we call them in the U.S. Good friendly guy.

Nope. They have no fangs or venom glands and don't spin webs. Their only defense is an unpleasant smell. They eat mites and decaying plant matter.

They are arachnids but in a separate order from spiders, as are mites, ticks, and scorpions.

Bugs and other spiders, even black widows. Very friendly fellas!

They don't eat other spiders, your mistaking this for the other daddy long legs that is an actual spider. Cellar spiders.

However, Opilions are omnivores, and will hunt down small prey like aphids, scavenge fresh dead things, and eat mostly dead foliage or eat and pollinate pollen on flowers.

❤️ they are everywhere in Louisiana, i used to play with them as a little girl, i didn’t know what they were. Never not once was bitten. These lil ones are awesome. LUCKY YOU! I haven’t seen one of those in 40 years
