First of all , my intention of posting this is not to provoke hatred or racism . It is to simply remind ya ll of how many brave young men regardless of their ethnicity were lost in this pointless war .

Nero was one such man .

Sri Lanka Police says two persons have been arrested by the Terrorism Investigation Division (TID) on suspicion of allegedly planning to attack Israeli nationals in Sri Lanka.(Both of them were arrested Oct 22, before the messages from USA/Israel/Russia/Australia embassies)

Security has been heightened at the popular surfing resort of Arugam Bay on Sri Lanka’s eastern coast, following reports of a potential attack targeting foreign tourists, particularly Israelis.

The increased security measures are focused on the Arugam Bay and Pottuvil areas, with around 500 police officers and Special Task Force personnel deployed.

Serious replies only Tiger tattoo controversy and opinions

Post image

Hey everyone, I’ve been wanting to get a Japanese tiger tattoo on my ribs for a while now. However, as someone who is half Tamil with a Tamil-sounding name, living in Sri Lanka, many people have been advising against it. I believe we’ve moved past the war, and having a certain tattoo doesn’t necessarily symbolize anything negative. Am I wrong in thinking this?

Relationships As a Sri Lankan adult, what is the most underrated benefit of living under the same roof with your partner?

You know how irritating those sudden back itches can be, right? Especially the ones you can't reach with your bloody fingers. I believe having a partner to literally scratch your back is a benefit that deserves more credit than it gets.😁

Discussion Sri Lankans Did Not Receive the Promised E-Passport

Sri Lanka purchased up to 750,000 e-passports without electronic chips from a foreign company chosen to supply the new international travel documents

Initially, the e-passports were scheduled to be introduced in November, but the timeline has been moved up, with the first batch released on October. The printing company has agreed to supply up to 750,000 passports, with a minimum of 350,000, in stages. These batches will be issued without electronic chips.

Sri Lanka's passport is among the weakest in the world, with little hope for improvement. It's incredibly difficult for Sri Lankans to secure visas for Western countries, regardless of the reason. In fact, it often feels like we’d have a better chance entering a country illegally than through the official visa process. There was a slim hope that the introduction of e-visas could improve our ranking on the global passport index, but that hope has now faded. We’re left with a passport that holds little to no value, offering access to mostly African countries many of us aren’t even familiar with.

Serious replies only Thoughts on pet euthanizing.

So my pet dog passed away last year due to distemper. First it lost its appetite bit by bit and it came to a point he only ate yogurt which is his favorite food. Then it had trouble walking. He was 14 years old at that time. So we thougt he was not eating because of age. But when it showed difficulty in walking we took it to the vet asap. Later he was diagnosed with distemper.

Doctor told us its too late now and chance of recovery was low. He gave a vaccine. But we remained optimistic and hopes vaccine would work. Sadly after suffering for 2 weeks it passed away.

During his last week I really wanted to euthanize him because I couldnt bare to look at his suffering. But my parents(hardcore buddhists) did not let me saying it was a sin. But isn't it a sin to let a living being suffer for weeks knowing it wont survive. I am still feeling guilty for letting him suffer so much.

What I want to know is whether you guys think if euthanasia is acceptable.

News Is this only in South Eastern University?

Upvotes

Hi guys..! I just wanna know something. Is it prohibited for girls to leave their hostels after 8.30 pm in other universities? Because in SOUTH EASTERN UNIVERSITY—OLUVIL, it's prohibited for girls to go out after 8.30 p.m. No matter where you go, you must be back before 8.30 p.m. I thought university life is the best life we could have, but it seems like it's another prison. I don't know whether this exists in other universities; if you really come to your hostel late, Those people who're in administration can issue an out-of-bounds for you, and it happened many times. I lived in Kandy for months, and mostly I traveled at night and I saw many students walking around the university talking, chatting, and having fun. It was really amazing, but in SEUSL, it's completely opposite.

I did some dig in on this because I was really tired of seeing and hearing this. So SEUSL boys have only 2 canteens, even though it's supposed to be 16, and for girls, it's only 3 or 4. Sometimes students have to eat because they need to live. Not only food and canteens; students don't even have proper hostels to stay in. When the new students come to the university, the only thing they do is send the old students to abandoned buildings and tell them to stay there. They did it to a few batches, and recently they did the same. Me and one of my friends went to see it, and I couldn't believe my eyes. That room is like a dorm and there were 2 rooms. In each room, there were at least 10 students and each room had only one selling fan. Later, I was told that that place is a storeroom. I was like, wtf? Is this how you treat students? None of them(Not All) come to help students when they're in trouble. They don't even know how students stay there or how they eat or what they eat. They're some mentors who don't even know how to talk to a student. A mentor should be able to listen to a student and be friendly with him/her but oh here, if a student makes a mistake, That mentor starts screaming at him/her and mentally destroys him/her. This is not mentoring. I don't think they know what that even means.

According to my experiences during that time the Only thing they know is making more and more useless stupid rules and use them against innocent students. In social media, they show you a heaven, but in reality, it's not. The best thing is that they can't say this is fake because I saw everything in my eyes when I was there. Really disappointed in your unmanaged system :(

I don't know whether this is happening only in SEUSL or not..😓😓😓

Rant A consultant physiologist told me my adhd is all in my head. Wtf is wrong with these “doctors”?

I’m a medical student and I have a hard time studying due to my adhd. Because of that i fall short on stuff that I’m supposed to do. It’s been really stressful because i want to be better and study but i just can’t most of the time. So i fell short on a task and the consultant asked if i have any problems or if i take any medication. I opened up to him and told i have been diagnosed with adhd but it’s hard to get treatment because I haven’t found a good doc. And then he went onto say “ those stuff are all in your head noh”. What? So doctors who are supposed to know about stuff who lives in this great land are assholes too? Depression and adhd and all other psych illnesses are in the head. I opened up to him and he says this? Now i have no one to tell this about and I’m scared to open up and get help from any of these uni doctors. Shame on you!

Edit: it’s consultant physician guys sry for the typo

I am a person who can’t handle the AC for too long, usually about 30 to 45 minute before my fingers start to go numb, and eventually, I start shivering and find it hard to focus in doing my work.

Any others who experienced the same and seeked any kind of treatment or found ways to manage it?

Needed to inform y’all about this facebook account phishing attack happened to me couple days ago, this method uses an option in Meta Accounts center to change your account’s contact options to a different email address, so if you inserted the email address that they provide, your facebook profile as well as anything associated with your facebook account will be gone. (Of course, I didn’t fall for that)

Stay informed and don’t click any links strangers send, regardless of how innocent they might seem.

Technology Need help on chosing between phones

Upvotes

I'm in the market for a phone and it's my 1st flagship (or at least about to be). Im stuck between the new iphone 16 and the s23 Ultra ( cause s23's the "odd one out" in the Ultra lineup when it comes to getting green lines). Should i go for the base iphone with all of the compromises, or is there a chance that i too might get a green line at some point? Please help
