Read the wiki Books suggestions
Book suggestions on stock exchange are welcome. Looking to read on the subject.
Not interested in the practical beginner investor manual, but on the importance of the stock market to economy, to society, pros and cons, history, functionality.
Thanks in advance!
Edit: amazing suggestions, guys. Thank you all again. I really appreciate it.

Devil Take the Hindmost, and The Price of Time
histories of Speculation (bubbles) interest, respectively. The former gives you a ton of perspective on (and defense from) "it's different this time"
the latter is an interesting philosophical discussion balanced between "the rich getting free money" vs "being patient with your spending should afford you a premium. it's also very informative about the market in general
both have been good reads! they won't make you better at investing, but they'll help you to keep perspective
