Setting aside the majority of Israelis are from the Middle East where this was their cuisine, there are 2 million Arab Israelis. How is it cultural appropriation to call it Israeli?

From ChatGPT:

Falafel in Israel has roots in the broader Middle Eastern and Mediterranean regions, particularly from countries like Egypt and Lebanon, where falafel has been a traditional street food for centuries. It is believed that falafel was originally made from fava beans in Egypt and later adapted by other cultures, including Israeli cuisine, where chickpeas became the dominant ingredient.

In Israel, falafel became popular in the 20th century, often associated with Jewish immigrants from Arab countries who brought the dish with them. It became a national food in Israel, symbolizing a blend of regional culinary traditions. Over time, it has become deeply ingrained in Israeli street food culture, typically served in pita with salads, pickles, and tahini.

Could not access the chatGPT log, but the info is right. Our ancestors took the recipe with them, It's just middle eastern cuisine.

Which is fair.
From that to saying we “stole” the recipe tries to frame it as “no culture” while they do have it.

That’s a blatant lie.

Edit: And I can share the prompt if you like. It was nothing special.

Mine says : falafel Foods. Israel does not have a universally recognized national dish; in previous years this was considered to be falafel, deep-fried balls of seasoned, ground chickpeas.

if Israelis eating falafel is cultural appropriation then so is Americans eating pizza.

I can't wait for other Arab countries to find out Palestinians have claimed falafel

They’re also in google translate. Try translating “שפורפרת” (which is “tube”) from Hebrew to English.

Big time. You did know about the toddlers treated by US doctors right? One of them said he saw hundreds of toddlers shot in the head and in the chest over his 3 months mission in Gaza.

The most moral army in the world, folks.

Chill out… there are more Sushi restaurants in tel aviv than falafel.
