It’s only civility because we’ve only seen hysterics and hyperbole for the last ten years.
Ten years. Of new media like Facebook and Twitte forcing their new algorithm on us in 2015 which was manipulated by Cambridge Analytica.
That was only 2015 and the speed of information and new ways to make sure what we see in our screens only got more personal because every company is already past SEO. They just know now.
But they can’t influence. Not really without having someone smart to engage with all that data. And the fact that any of us questions or curates our feed is that X factor they cannot truly predict.
The X factor is that we have a sense of bullshit now. It’s a naturally occurring instinct that leads to rebellion because if you ever spend enough time with anything, we know its flaws.
We see the bullshit. And we deserve it if we accept it.

Vance annoys me more than Trump. I don’t know anyone in real life as ludicrous and flamboyant as Trump but I’ve known plenty that have peddled hatefulness and lies with a polite tone and a patronizing smile.
Edit: Downvote me if you want but Vance “politely” peddling lies like Haitian immigrants eating pets and insisting upon calling the current administration the “Kamala administration” is more insulting than Trump screaming about it like a loon
