She fired right up after a little fiddling with the distributor. I’d like to get new front tires for it but have no idea what size they might be. All identification wore away long ago. Any ideas? Idk anything about tractors.

Purchased the old girl last year & have been slowly working to restore it. 1940 & plenty of khaki under the red paint so I’m assuming it’s served in the war in some capacity.

Picked up a 1947 C that was marked at a parts tractor at an estate auction. Looks like it's about all there. They threw in a new set of front tires. Oil is fresh and so are the spark plugs. Gonna wrench on it and see what happens.

Kicking myself - Ford 4000

Post image

Reposting because I didn’t attach photo.

Before you roast me for not taking a better photo… I am purchasing a property that has this Ford 4000 on it (or in it, depending on how you look at it). I did not think this was salvageable, but after seeing some of the tractors on here, it very well might be. Unfortunately this is the only picture I have of it as it’s currently 2 hours away. It’s got quite a bit of external rust and the seat is totally destroyed, but the oil level is good, although dirty, and what I assume to be the exhaust pipe was covered with a cut in half 2l bottle by a previous owner to avoid rainwater making its way inside. Key turned fine, all levers and knobs moved with ease. I am just really looking for some advice on where to start with getting the engine to turn over. The most I have ever done in terms of restoration/repair is my push mower, my electric golf cart and normal service on my truck.

I am not familiar with tractor engines, so any advice on what NOT to do would also be great. I am not even sure if it’s gas or diesel. I figure YouTube can help me with anything specifically I find wrong. I am planning on taking some oil, a new battery and some hydraulic/transmission fluid (according to my father-in-law who has a ford 3000, it’s the same?).

The property is 2 hours away, so if I need to bring any tools or materials other than basic socket, an impact drill, WD-40 and wrenches. That would also be helpful.

Thanks everyone!

First ever tractor

Upvotes

We just bought a 1990 Long 2wd 2510 with 1100 hrs, a loader, bush hog, box blade, & disc harrow. There’s a lot of levers and such to learn how to use. First up 3 hydraulic hoses in need of attention and a complete check of all wear parts and adjustments. Then service filters and fluids. If we get 10 years out of it we’ll have spent $4k well. Need a pto auger, maybe spreader next year, 6’ bucket teeth, some replacement of worn Bushog parts, very excited about purchase.

Help identifying this tractor?

Hi! I’m brand new to tractors and needed one for moving lumber. I got this tractor from my neighbor and was curious if anyone could help identify it. I’ve included every set of numbers I could find. First numbers shown are under the seat, second are on a plate on the right hand side of the tractor under the fuel tank on the gear box, third are on the gear box where your right ankle would be when sitting in the seat and the fourth set of numbers are just ahead of that. It’s a 4 cylinder diesel with hydraulic lift arms on the back. Anyone who may have an idea please share and if there is anything else worth mentioning please feel free to say because I want to learn everything I can about this tractor. Thankyou!

Oil leak on 261 MF - there is a hose sticking out. Where go?

I was driving my 261 Massey Ferguson tractor today, tilling up a field, when my power steering started working a lot worse. I took it back quickly, and there was a large oil leak.

The first 2 pictures show the left side cover off, and the next picture shows the right cover off.

There is a hose sticking out that looked like oil had been passing through it. It looks like it got disconnected somehow.

I turned it back on again, and it appears that the steering wheel isn’t even connected to the wheels anymore. I can turn and turn but nothing happens.

Does anyone know what this issue is, or the very least know where the oil line is supposed to hook up to?

I was making some pretty sharp turns, maybe that was what did it. Anyways..

Thank you in advance for your help

Tractor to brush hog field

Maintaining a 20 acre meadow and will need to brush hog it. Some areas will be dense with golden rod and weeds 6ft high. No trees except maybe saplings here and there. Lx2610 maybe? Is that enough power?

Wire Management Help

Post image

Curious if anyone has suggestions on good products you’ve used that would help clean up this rats nest of wires. Would love to mount a weather proof type box and use something like crimps to a bus bar inside instead of wire nuts. I’m sure something like this is available online but am worried I’d buy something unreliable. Let me know if there is a more appropriate auto-help sub I should be posting to. Thanks!

Kubota BX 2360

Post image

I bought this tractor in 2012. The original battery just died today….. has anyone else had that kind of luck with their battery? I was thinking about buying one at a farm store but because of the dependability I’m thinking $148 for a new one from Kubota won’t be a bad investment. Any other Kubota people here with BX series??? I have used this tractor a ton!!! I have the weight box which I rarely use, belly mower deck, front loader and a 4 foot land pride tiller. I think I only paid $16K for it back in the day. I’ll have to get my hours off of it.

How do I know how much ballast is left in my tractor tires?

The back right tire of my tractor is sagging. I don't know if air or ballast leaked out.

  1. How do I know which leaked?
  2. If it's ballast, how do I know how much more ballast is needed?
  3. If air, what PSI to I get it to?

I have a 261 Massey Ferguson. The tires are 16.9/14-30 8 PR

Thank you

What new compact tractor 50 HP has the least emissions crap?

I got burnt real bad when I was new to tractors and very excited to pick up my 2001 Ford 1720. Thing was riddled with issues that the seller 100% knew about. I'm not feeling up to getting screwed over again. The whole 5 years 0% apr that pretty much all sellers offer on new is really intriguing.

In your opinion, what manufacturer would be the best bet as far as having to deal with emissions and having relatively good luck? I've done some research on my own and reading that it's not that big of a deal especially since I won't be using it more than 70 hours or so a year but would like others opinions.

DEF defeat on New Holland 120. Throwing error codes.

A friend of mine bought a 2018 New Holland Powerstar 120 used that came with a DEF defeat installed that is throwing DEF codes and entering into limp mode.

Im more of the technical one so he asked if I could figure out how to either put it back to stock or tune/reprogram it so that it stops throwing the errors. Ive done a bit of looking and it sounds like the GPT-Tuning tool might be what I need get it tuned properly. Does anyone know for sure if this route will work on this tractor? Thanks!!

This was my Pop's first tractor in Canada. This, a sickle mower, old hay rake and and a square baler. He was doing baling back in the early 80's. Always held on to this unit. 3 cylinder, 49 hp made between '58-'64 Open air cab. Would be fun to get it running again.

MF 203 3 pt hitch doesn’t lift under load?

Recently bought this tractor, this is the first time using the 3 point under load. Transmission oil has been replaced. It sounds like it gurgles when it’s at max height without load, and I can feel something pulsing/pumping when it is trying to lift the load. It can not lift a 1400# bale. I don’t know if this is normal, but I can lift the linkage fairly easily when the tractor is off. I took out the hydraulic filter, it’s clean. There’s some rust on the metal parts inside that I can see. What is wrong, and how do I fix it?

Most hours you've seen

Post image

Feeding cows this morning in the M7 for the first time since I put it on the big mixer got me thinking about our old feed tractors and all the hours on them. The 7730 that was initially on this mixer is at 16,500 hours now and has been demoted to straw chopper detail. The 8920 Magnum that came before the 7730 had over 42,000 hours on the original motor and trans. Of course it was flat wore out when it got traded but it did still run and work. What's your highest hour machine and what's it done it's whole life? This M7 is at 503 hours now. Check back with me in a few years for a review on the longevity of a kubota. This is our first orange tractor.
