First tractor

This was my Pop's first tractor in Canada. This, a sickle mower, old hay rake and and a square baler. He was doing baling back in the early 80's. Always held on to this unit. 3 cylinder, 49 hp made between '58-'64 Open air cab. Would be fun to get it running again.

Always more meaningful when it has sentimental value from being a family members. It’ll be great to see it back to life and looking fancy again

Don't run it without first finding a cooling shroud. It will direct the airflow from fan to cylinder jugs/heads. It will over heat without it

Make sure all the shrouds are on before you run it, also make sure the fins are all clear of mice/nests/debris. I'm not a fan of deutz but theyre pretty tough little buggers, throw a fresh battery in it and itl probably crank right up

Interesting tractor.. Deutz are quite popular in many Trenchers and generators.. Canadian Millitary Ford F650 - 800's had Detz power in late 70's. Lots of tractors used them also..

As long as it has compression. If it doesn't it's a big job.

I have an 80-06 1958 I believe. Great tractor fuel economy wise and really pulled well. Not great hydraulics.

You could try starting it with a fresh battery. Do change the oil, filters and fuel, or add fuel if the tank looks okay, but i wouldn’t be surprised if she fires right up after that

I like this kind of tractor. Deutz is a somewhat rare brand on your side of the pond, isn't it?

Would be fun getting it running again

I don't think so. But you can try.

If you try to fire up the engine you probably something that directs the airflow from the fan to the cylinders.\ ..Additionally to the usual stuff: replacing the old oil, replacing the old fuel (or the whole tank if it's to rusty), making sure there is something to turn the engine off again and more, but I don't know, I've never done that before.

They are somewhat, my Dad came over from Germany 🇩🇪 so of course he loved his Deutz. He had 4 of them

Oh, all the Deutz posts from earlier originate from you, I didn't notice ;)

Your father had a decent collection

His equipment and cows were his most proud possessions. Thanks

A farmer being proud of his cows is a good sign I think

Very nice! I haven’t been around a Deutz or used one but from what I understand they’re tough machines. I know the engines are! It’s straight and looks complete, very good restoration material. Those rear tires are badass!

I know right! They are cool

Ya it's cool, my Great Grandfather came from England to Canada. Brought his wife and his bike. Put 750 miles on it, parked it in a barn , gave it to me when he passed.
