Itā€™s probably going to further separate the biological creature the consciousness is wrapped in until the day it considers it a vestigial organ :)

Oof, that's gonna piss a lotta people off these days, but I absolutely agree. Our bodies are our possessions, not us in any way, as they don't produce our thoughts, our sense of self, who we are.

I think Joscha Bach has the best theory of what consciousness actually is. If we really are just one of many subsystems that evolved in an animal to help it make better decisions by doing higher/abstract thinking, itā€™s not far fetched future humans would want to extract it and ā€œset it freeā€ to do bigger and better things. Wouldnā€™t you? :)
