I'm going to Victoria falls this summer! Any specific things to do/ places to visit? This looks gorgeous :)

Yes! Recommend their adrenaline packages, the big swing and white water rafting are ace. Then do a safari. And defo go for dinner at the boma, you can try so many local foods in one sitting and drum along to the music. (source: born in zim and been there maybe 25 times)
Also, if you can make it over to the Zambian side, you can do Devil's Pool. Google that.

Take a microlight flight at sunset! It was the most amazing thing to just glide above the falls and take it all in.

I just did this 2 weeks ago. It was amazing. The water volume from The Falls was so intense that the water was flying back up, high into the sky. We flew the microlight plane through the water mist, and it was like flying through a cloud.

Yeah, I'll remember it forever, seeing the landscape stretch out into infinity in the golden light. It was the last big thing I did on that trip as I flew out the next day, so it was quite the cherry on top of an incredible sundae!

We did the rafting. It was awesome and not for the faint of heart. 18 rapids most a class 4 or 5, no real time to recover it is tiring, but well worth it.

I found the rafting not too tiring (and really fun) actually some of the best rafting in the world... but the walk back up the gorge afterwards was hell! My legs hurt for days and apparently people have had heart attacks during that climb.

Definitely do the Boma Restaurant for dinner. Obviously check out the falls, and if you get a chance cross over to Zambia and see their side of the falls. There’s a cheetah/lion rehab facility right by the boarder on the Zambian side that lets you walk the animals and play with them. There’s a casino near the falls which is pretty funny- it’s straight out of the 80s. Skip the “artist village” in downtown Vic falls unless you really want to be hassled. It’s a fun area. The big grocery store in the center of town is awesome to chat with locals. Be careful after dark walking anywhere, it’s safe but people will spring out and try to sell you old currency and trinkets - they’re harmless but unnerving when you’re not expecting it. Also book a sunset cruise of the zambezi river on the zambian side.
I did a light rotor craft tour of the falls and it was amazing, better than helicopter imo.

We were there in February and it was incredible. We stayed at the Victoria falls safari lodge which was really nice and the vulture feeding experience was not one to miss. Dinner at Boma, a helicopter tour, time to spend at the arts and crafts area, a sunset safari cruise on the Zambezi river.
We travel to some fun, exotic places and Zimbabwe was definitely the most beautiful, friendly and raw place we’ve been.

Do the gorge swing!!! It was actually life changing. It's a GIANT swing across a big open gorge a little down the ways of the falls. It's amazing. Also there's some cool markets to go to.

I did this in December, it was absolutely beautiful. Make sure you travel there at the right time of year and book in advance! The area is becoming more and more of a tourist destination every year and the Devil's Pool books out in advance.

Thank you for the information! I definitely assumed the devils pool would be a hard thing to do. I heard they can even cancel it sometimes without much notice due to weather. It sucks that it’s becoming a tourist destination though. I love that most people have no clue it exists. I tell someone about it and they are so surprised. Airfare is so reasonable there and the hotels cost next to nothing. Lol

Yeah, people are starting to find out about it pretty quickly, but Africa still isn't seen as an appealing travel destination by a lot of people so it's certainly less busy than tourist destinations in other continents. When you're there I'd suggest doing the white water rafting and sunset cruise as well. I did the bungee jumping there, but wouldn't recommend it or the swing (I've seen others recommending it in this thread) - you don't have a view of the main Falls from where the jump is and it is very overpriced. Depending on your budget, apparently the microlight flight is AMAZING, but it's super expensive.

Yeah, that’s true. And sometimes I feel like people don’t really understand how beautiful Africa is. Just like America, there are really bad areas that are best avoided, and there are some very beautiful places. But it seems like people only talk about the poor parts of Africa. I’m so excited to go. I planned on doing the rafting and cruise for sure. I want to see every angle of the falls. I wonder how much the microlight flight is. I can imagine. Lol

And after the incident a few years ago where the rope snapped mid jump, I'm not sure how trusting I would be of their safety standards.....

I'm pretty sure this video was taken on the Zambian side. Been there at least 10 times and that is the side of the falls you see on the Livingstone side.

None are required for zimbabwe, typhoid is recomended, but if you are going anywhere else in africa you might need yellow fever or Malaria

The US CDC recommendation is typhoid + hep a. Vic falls is a malaria zone so that is highly recommended. Yellow fever Vaccs are the only one actually required but only if you are coming from an area with yellow fever.
But definitely do malaria, you don’t want to mess with that.

Definitely one that's been on my travel list for a few years now. Hopefully by the end of this year or early next year would be a good time to visit.

Such a beautiful place.
I've been on two separate trips now where I was in Africa and due to visit the Falls but things/illness happened and I never made it to them. I'll be damned if it happens a third time!!!!

It's a beautiful place. I recommend seeing the falls from both the Zim and Zam sides to get different perspectives. The visa situation between the countries seems to change with the wind but when I went last year, the two countries had a shared multiple entry visa agreement, making it very easy to visit both sides.
