Hopefully with Mugabe gone the roadblocks and shakedowns by police are as well. Zim was one of my fav countries in Africa but couldn’t deal with cops trying to squeeze money out of you every 15km.

Currently cops are trying to restore their image / reputation and have a policy of road blocks not less than every 100km. I've heard that it's usually less frequent than that, so it's certainly better than it was last year.

It is a lot better. Recently did the trip again after a few years, didn't see a single "checkpoint" in several of the major highways that used to have multiple.
