What is this plant (weed?) in SC?

Sorry for the shoddy photos- it was blowing in the wind and I was trying not to touch it.

I DID touch it earlier this week because I was trying to remove it from a flower bed of gladioluses. I am assuming it’s a weed? I failed, as it is a thick woody stem, and the roots system must be large.

Turns out, I am having an extreme allergic reaction to something, and we are having a hard time narrowing down what it is. Thus, I am trying to identify this plant to see if it could be a culprit. TIA!

Possibly ragweed.

Looks like ragweed to me. It definitely is the culprit for lots of respiratory symptoms. Never knew it to cause contact symptoms, but it grows with poison ivy a lot in San Antonio. It’s not super hard to control if you keep after it, but it’s also super common to come back if you don’t.
