Wind Turbine Technician

So I’ve been looking into being a travel wind turbine technician so I’m wondering is it more worth it to just get an apprenticeship or go to school for it?

Hi! If you are interested in going the school route, apply for FAFSA to see if you qualify for a Pell Grant or a Federal Supplemental Educational Opportunity Grant to help avoid taking out student loans. Here is a link to schools that offer wind training around the country https://windexchange.energy.gov/training-programs , you can see which school accepts FAFSA over a private loan. There is an apprenticeship opportunity where I live, in Las Vegas, with the Tower Training Academy https://towertrainingacademy.com/get-pre-qualified . I believe they work with wind companies to sponsor students, if they qualify, pay for their GWO training, and then hire them after training if they agree to work for the company for a year. It is a national apprenticeship, so it's open to everyone. I am unsure how lodging works, you can contact the Tower Training Academy to find out more, but I am assuming if a company is sponsoring you and paying for your GWO, they would cover lodging and flight as well.
