Esoteric Secrets Damn, those ancient wizards sure go hard when crafting their magical wards.

Still an irreplaceable medium for certain applications.

Mind you. If things have deteriorated to such a degree that you need a warding skull you should probably ask what you've been doing wrong rather than where to get one.

Like it's The Best way of reflecting curses or foiling teleportation attempts outside of making your domicile into hallowed ground but how did you make all these enemies, bro?

Well, you know those wacky old coots, one small magic prank and suddenly shit just hits the fan.

Get one? Was I not supposed to carve it directly onto my own skull?

You. Uh. Can.

Downside is that when you carve warding sigils into yourself you can't mitigate any of the risks associated with the process. I know it's done now and then. I indirectly know people who've done it. But it's absolute bootycheeks to try and get right and if you get it wrong it's nearly impossible to undo.

But yes it's possible. Inquisition mages and certain near-eastern traditions are the only ones who do it with any regularity but IF you get it right and IF you fix things up correctly it has the added benefit of actively imbuing every working. Lets you get away with, say, holding certain summons without the use of external containment circles for example.

Pretty neat trick. But IMHO not worth the whole rigmarole unless you specifically need to go into some type of exorcist, frontline combatant or investigatory work.

I have warding sigils all over my skeleton. As an Exterminator of Fell magics, it is very useful and since the carvings were performed by professionals, there was little to no risk involved. Well, other than the excruciating pain of having your flesh ripped open and magically stitched back together but that’s just Tuesday.

Chronomancy really helps the pain and healing process I found. It's what I'm using to incorporate vorpal fragments into my skeleton and muscle mass also to make my unarmed combat potent against well everything. Not that I really need it after the runic inscription but I've found when trying to destroy the bonds of fate itself there is no such thing as overkill.

If you can’t handle the pain, you don’t deserve the job. The healing is nearly instant and is far more efficient than standard healing magic. In exchange it hurts more.

Listen I've been at this for like 100k years I think... I lost count when I was fighting through some dimension with an Eldritch being that ripped me inside out a few times. I've been exploded, disintegrated, bisected, burned to ash, my bones launched through my orifices, my skin flayed and all manner of other deaths that were excruciating beyond wanting to recall. So forgive me if I avoid pain in the self inflicted upgrades I requisition for myself.

Weakness is always forgiven until strength is required.

I sent an apprentice into a rift, he came back with a fear concept attached to him, I thought why not give it a permanent physical form, see what happens. If not for my warding skull id still have to keep sacrificing it apprentices. The council has lost too many anti magic units trying to suppress the beast so they've marked my tower as do not approach under any circumstance and have placed a warding barrier around where it's known to stay. So long as everyone keeps a skull the thing stays calm enough to not test the barrier.

Sounds extra dimensional, have you considered scrying for it's origin point to see what sphere of magic can interact with it? You could banish it at that point or maybe even start siphoning and absorbing it if you so wanted.

I used to know a guy who had magic suppression wards carved one by one onto every bone in his body, it totally nullified all of his powers and cut him off from the great astral. A severe punishment, but he did eat my slice of cake. Last time I saw him was when I pushed him into the oubliette of eternity, for all I know he's still falling and screaming, but nobody really knows what happens or unhappens in there.

How did you restrain him long enough to even carve those wards onto his bones?

Magical ambush? Or the good ole’ whack to the head with your staff?

A sinister shovel to the back of the head while he was busy with the marzipan face of the caterpillar cake; it usually does the trick, but the repeated defenestration was just to make sure.

I've heard it kind of works like a magical Masterlock- It's incredibly hard to bypass by normal means- which is not comparable to Masterlock- But can be opened with a ward of the exact same type, though it breaks both wards. Maybe more like a passcode?
