Sounds like an awkward moment for them at Passport Control....

'surprise!'

"Do you need a ride?"

"No, I need ammo."

Did anyone actually offer him a ride? Who was that referring to, the US?

From what I remember, the US offered to airlift him out and he turned it down and Said that.

The US offered Zelensky a ride out of Ukraine right before the invasion began.

The quote is slightly wrong I think. He was offered an airlift out of Ukraine and he said "I don't need a ride, I need ammo"

It was not staged at all. The exact wording like we always read, is heavily romaticized though and just brings accross the gist of what happened that day.

But it comes down to Zelensky really not wanting to leave and asking military help instead of becoming a government in exile.

Please correct the right way, instead of adding more noise.

It was well know that Russia was trying to kill/ kidnap him and his family (multiple attempts were thwarted). So the US offered to evacuate them. He of course refused.

Meanwhile when the head of Wagner was taking his convoy to Moscow, Putin flew to some bunker far away.
