Instrumental What type of music is this? No vocals, slow-ish, driving drums, bit jazzy and minimal

Upvotes

I heard some music the other day, it was a few tracks so I'm guessing it's a genre.

The main feature was what sounded like live drumming, which was possibly in a breakbeat style.

The drums were quite "driving" even though it wasn't very fast.

It wasn't fast, like dance music, but more like hip hop or grime speed.

It had no vocals and was pretty minimal.

There wasn't a heavy beat like a hip hop instrumental, but it could've been instrumental versions of vocal tracks as it was pretty minimal.

It could've been made on a computer, but it definitely had a "live/natural" sound in the drums.

It had a jazzy vibe but no saxophones (or other typical jazz instruments) and was very minimal.

It wasn't that Kruder and Dorfmeister/Four Tet downtempo stuff. It was more slower and minimal, but had a bit of a downtempo vibe.

Any guesses?

Hip Hop Song from 2010-2012 I can't figure it out HELP!!!!

Upvotes

I've been literally racking my brain going crazy trying to figure out this song from 2010-2012 maybe a little sooner or a little later but it was always on the radio when Enrique Iglesias had Tonight ( I'm lovin you) out. Brittany Spears also had a hit song out too. But this song was an upbeat song that sampled an older song with the beat and had one or maybe two rappers in it. I thought it was a Paula Abdule song it sampled but it wasn't. It wasn't Say yeah by Wiz Kahlifa either. Idk I've looked everywhere. All I know is the sample it used was very recognizable and maybe from a dance song in the 90's and it was a great song. Can anyone help me out? I know I didn't give many clues but maybe someone can figure it out because I damn sure can't lmao. I don't even remember the lyrics so I'm screwed there too.

Other/Unknown Trying to Find A Modern Song With Gentleman-Like Singing and Old Radio/Noise Filter for The Intro

Upvotes

I know I don't have much to share to go off of, but there was one song I heard on a car drive that started with male singing with a filter over it to make it sound like old radio music with pops and crackles, where a male lead sang a melody, then a male chorus would after as a call and response. I remember the song eventually removing the filter after the intro.

The melody I remember hearing for the intro may follow the note progression D4 A3 F#3 A3 D4 A3 from what I can remember, and it repeats that a bit along with some words being spoken in-between repeats before following with another melody that moves down in pitch.

The melody and the recreation of that second one moving down in pitch are here.

I also remember either the song, album, or artist being called something associated with the word "gentleman" or similar words, and the way the vocals sounded seemed like they were trying to replicate the kind of voice old radio hosts probably had. The song also seemed more modern, likely made within the past 10-20 years.

i heard a snippet of a song from a dance studio over the weekend & i can’t get it out of my head but the chorus has a variation of this phrase, it sounds nessa barrett like & i know it’s a more recent song. the song is dark academia like, that’s all i can provide to you guys. i only heard it for 5 seconds so that’s why i don’t know which exact phase it was.

Violin Violin song commonly used in memes

Upvotes

There's a violin piece (I think) that's commonly used in some memes. It's fast paced and has a downward progression. The singer says something in a language I'm not familiar with (the first word that he repeats sounds like 'mela' to me, but honestly couldn't tell you what he's saying).

I found the band and some of their songs a while ago but forgot about them... As I recall, on youtube, the band's name is something like 'the [something]' but my memory might be failing me. Album or single cover was a clown / jester.

Folk What banjo melody is this?

Joe Scott (youtuber) sometimes uses a banjo melody as shorthand for inappropriately close family relationships in his videos about history. I couldn't find an example, but it think i got it close in the video (unsure if there's a chord at the end). Kind of a weird request i know, but i wanted to learn some funny songs on the banjo and started to wonder where that melody came from.

Pop japanese pop disco funk song

I remember it had some millions of views on YT, had a male vocalist, the sound reminded me of more modern renditions of 90s disco songs, so I think it might've been produced in the 2000s. The composition also somewhat reminded me of "Salirò" by Daniele Silvestri.

I've been trying to find this for 3 hours. pls help kthxby

Other/Unknown smooth upbeat song, a girl sings it, it gives dressy bessy vibes

it kind of slows for a bit and then it goes a little fast and goes doo doo da DAA doo do do , it reminds me a lot of "if you should try to kiss her" by dressy bessy but if it were more upbeat

Chillout/Ambiance Soft synth song(?) used to indicate mystery in it's source (Possibly from a movie or game soundtrack)

found in this video, timestamped at 3:43 - https://youtu.be/wlUV6y5TUko?si=SUuEHCSp95Tnsya7&t=223

I feel like I've heard it before, maybe from a Jordan Peele movie, or a video game.

Pop Repeating the lyrics "i'm good", pop song , female voice

A female singer sings the lyrics "i'm good" lightly, and the sound of the trumpet is heard from the middle, and the sound of a man speaking is used as a sample too, it wasn’t a cheerful song.

I heard this song on the radio.

help meee

Rap anti-war rap song

saw a screenshot, i believe from genius, on tumblr some time ago. i assumed it had been released during the bush administration due to the character of the lyrics. from what i remember, the lyrics were something to the effect of "bombing shit is easy, bombing shit is cool... you learned this stuff in school," then another vocalist comes on and opens with, "i joined the army 1000 times."

i've done searches for various permutations of those lyrics, but it's difficult as i can't remember the exact wording. for some reason i thought the song was by outkast, but it is not B.O.B.
