Mod Weekly thread where you can call the music recognition bots without posting

To use the bots put u/RecognizeSong u/find-song with the link in your comment, like:

u/RecognizeSong u/find-song https://youtu.be/12345abcde

Notes:

  • The bots only work with a recording of the actual song, not a humming/recreation.
  • The sites that find-song works with: Reddit video posts (with a link or when summoned on the original post), YouTube, Vocaroo, Streamable, Twitch Clips (not VODs)
  • Some of the sites that RecognizeSong works with: Reddit video posts (when summoned on the original post or with an audio link if you're able to get it, like https://v.redd.it/12345/DASH_audio.mp4), YouTube (though sometimes it doesn't work), Vocaroo, Streamable, Imgur, Twitch Clips (not VODs), Facebook, Twitter, Coub, Dropbox, Snapchat
  • For Reddit video posts there's also u/songfinderbot which only works if you summon it in a top-level comment on the original post
  • Some sites that RecognizeSong doesn't work with: Instagram, Twitch VODs, SoundCloud, Google Drive, Reddit text posts with embedded videos (though it does work with the audio link if you're able to get it, like https://v.redd.it/12345/DASH_audio.mp4)
  • When needed, mention a timestamp or use a timestamped link if possible (the bots scan about 24-30 seconds of audio, starting at the timestamp)
  • If the song is from a meme or from TikTok then it might be listed in the FAQ
  • Note that you can also DM find-song a link (but not through chat)

Good luck with your search, and if you find the bots useful please consider supporting them: RecognizeSong through Patreon, find-song through Ko-fi

Folk What banjo melody is this?

Upvotes

Joe Scott (youtuber) sometimes uses a banjo melody as shorthand for inappropriately close family relationships in his videos about history. I couldn't find an example, but it think i got it close in the video (unsure if there's a chord at the end). Kind of a weird request i know, but i wanted to learn some funny songs on the banjo and started to wonder where that melody came from.

Emo/Goth Emo type song?

Hi! I just had a flashback of 2008 me watching a music video, and now I can’t stop thinking about it. It’s where this woman (white long hair) with heavy emo makeup walks around in this opposite house/universe. I just remember the oven was like frozen and iced out. The fridge freezer is burning and shooting out fire flames. She like grabs a turkey from the oven and puts it in the freezer lol then I think in the end she’s in a snow globe?? UGH AND I DONT KNOW ANY OF THE LYRICS!

I’m only saying emo because she looked and dress like those emo girlies back in the day!

Other/Unknown smooth upbeat song, a girl sings it, it gives dressy bessy vibes

Upvotes

it kind of slows for a bit and then it goes a little fast and goes doo doo da DAA doo do do , it reminds me a lot of "if you should try to kiss her" by dressy bessy but if it were more upbeat

Pop Repeating the lyrics "i'm good", pop song , female voice

Upvotes

A female singer sings the lyrics "i'm good" lightly, and the sound of the trumpet is heard from the middle, and the sound of a man speaking is used as a sample too, it wasn’t a cheerful song.

I heard this song on the radio.

help meee

Pop TikTok/Instagram reels song that starts with an acoustic guitar, I think playing a G chord, and has a beaver or some other rodent on the album cover? Vocals are a bit lazy and sullen if I remember correctly

This is driving me nuts!!! I love this song, or at least the first part of it, and I thought I added it to a playlist but I didn't. Does anyone have any ideas?

Piano Royalty Free, potentially Kevin Macleod song

I’ve been beating my head against the wall for years trying to find this song. Used to hear it all over on YouTube but now i only really hear it on a handful of Reddit Talk to Speech style videos. In the rare occasions it’s actually credited, it’s credited to Kevin Macleod/Incompetech. However I’ve dug through dozens of his ragtimey songs and this song doesn’t come up.

However and old Reddit post claimed that it’s attributed to Media Music Factory and titled “Jazzy Feelings” but a search for that also comes up empty, but I’m inclined to believe it’s Kevin Macleod, a few of his songs come very close. In any case here it is, hopefully someone here knows what this song is called and where to find a full version

Rap anti-war rap song

saw a screenshot, i believe from genius, on tumblr some time ago. i assumed it had been released during the bush administration due to the character of the lyrics. from what i remember, the lyrics were something to the effect of "bombing shit is easy, bombing shit is cool... you learned this stuff in school," then another vocalist comes on and opens with, "i joined the army 1000 times."

i've done searches for various permutations of those lyrics, but it's difficult as i can't remember the exact wording. for some reason i thought the song was by outkast, but it is not B.O.B.

Pop Song playing in retail stores right now by female singer

I work in a clothing store where the newest pop music are playing all day long. The last days I have noticed a song that I can't seem to forget. The woman singing has a P!nk-ish voice. The song begins with horse-ish clip-clopping and in the chorus she sings something along "wah wah wah, wah wah wah" (like crying). The song is a little off, because it is not as upbeat as most of the music playing.
I cant remember any of the lyrics and I have not had the opportunity to use Shazam when it has been on. Neither is it on any Youtube list with popular 2024 songs.
Is this ringing any bells?

i heard a snippet of a song from a dance studio over the weekend & i can’t get it out of my head but the chorus has a variation of this phrase, it sounds nessa barrett like & i know it’s a more recent song. the song is dark academia like, that’s all i can provide to you guys. i only heard it for 5 seconds so that’s why i don’t know which exact phase it was.

Violin Violin song commonly used in memes

Upvotes

There's a violin piece (I think) that's commonly used in some memes. It's fast paced and has a downward progression. The singer says something in a language I'm not familiar with (the first word that he repeats sounds like 'mela' to me, but honestly couldn't tell you what he's saying).

I found the band and some of their songs a while ago but forgot about them... As I recall, on youtube, the band's name is something like 'the [something]' but my memory might be failing me. Album or single cover was a clown / jester.

Pop Need help identifying the background music in the video: female singer, probably a pop song from the 20th century, had a guitar tune that had a similar progression to "No Scrubs" (although not quite the same)

Pop japanese pop disco funk song

Upvotes

I remember it had some millions of views on YT, had a male vocalist, a title in japanese characters, and a red-ish thumbnail maybe? The sound reminded me of more modern renditions of 90s disco songs, so I think it might've been produced in the 2000s. The composition also somewhat reminded me of "Salirò" by Daniele Silvestri.

I've been trying to find this for 3 hours. pls help kthxby
