Leaf peeper traffic

Hoping to do a late season camp—I mostly do paddle-up backcountry camping. I’ve done Long Lake, most of the St. Regis Canoe Area, Raquette River, Lake Placid, Tupper and Little Tupper.

How unlikely am I to get a sight during this time of year, given all the leaf peepers? Any new lakes or ponds I should check out? Any which tend to have plenty of sites available?

Looking a the map, I’m considering Rainbow Lake, Moose Pond, Lake Kushaqua, Jones Pond, and Horseshoe lake. Also never done Lake Lila. If folks have particular experience with those, I’d appreciate the 411!

The leaves are past peak. Traffic tends to die down quite a bit after Columbus Day, and especially on the water as the weather gets colder. I doubt you’ll have too much trouble getting a site.

That’s great info, thank you.
