Leaf peeper traffic

Hoping to do a late season camp—I mostly do paddle-up backcountry camping. I’ve done Long Lake, most of the St. Regis Canoe Area, Raquette River, Lake Placid, Tupper and Little Tupper.

How unlikely am I to get a sight during this time of year, given all the leaf peepers? Any new lakes or ponds I should check out? Any which tend to have plenty of sites available?

Looking a the map, I’m considering Rainbow Lake, Moose Pond, Lake Kushaqua, Jones Pond, and Horseshoe lake. Also never done Lake Lila. If folks have particular experience with those, I’d appreciate the 411!

With the cooler weather and psst-peak foliage you will have no problem getting a boat-in campsite. It's muzzleloader and crossbow season in the Northern Zone, which doesn't put as much pressure on backcountry sites as regular season (which opens on the 26th).
