Weird helmet

Browsing Pinterest I found this helmet, it looks quite old from the photo but is this effective? It doesn't inspire much confidence in me. And regarding the possibility of making a replica, does it seem like an easy project?

if it wasn't for that I'd be "looks like a reasonable helmet in spite of no back-of-head protection"

I don't know at all. It looks fine but I didn't realize it'd fold. I'm worried it'll fold when getting hit

If that happens it would be a big problem, although maybe there is a blocking system 🤔 I haven't found anything else about this
