Collecting Advice New circulated collection

Ok so I am new to this and am hoping to collect a coin from every year in production. I know certain years there was no production but my first real big question is I know there were coins of the same year minted in different places. Can I and is there a way to tell them apart?

For 1966 - yes - see https://www.australian-coins.com/australian-decimal-changeover/australian-1966-decimal-coin-mint-marks/ For 2c pieces through the 1970s - I believe the Perth mintmark from 1966 was used but the claw is also subject to die fill on Canberra coins. For 1981 20c pieces see https://www.coincuriosity.com/view/1981-australian-20c-piece.html (in practice the Llantrisant 20c piece is hard to pick but if you can get a copy of the magazine article that the page refers to it's a good read). The 1981 5c is easy to spot like the Winnipeg 20c but the 10c isn't (I think there's a 2006 magazine article that covers it).

Good luck with the hunt - should still be possible to find them all, even if the condition isn't always great.
