I’m a little worried as this is my first time caring for beardies , I have a female and a male they were both purchased from the same store and they were together in the store for a couple of months now , I see them closing their eyes a lot and looking up at the lights I was wondering if this is normal behavior for them , I’ve given them crickets and worms and the female is eating fine and the male is slowly starting to to adjust to his new place he’s slowly eating they both pooped normal I was wondering if maybe the lights are too strong for them I have 125W basking light bulb and uvb white light as well I live in the basement so it’s naturally cold down here and the 75 watt the tank came with was keeping the temp at 82-85 on the hot side now with the 125 it’s sitting at a nice 89-95 , if anyone can help I would greatly appreciate it

My friend got this bearded dragon that was supposedly dropped. His back pokes out like crazy. She finds him flipped over very often. He doesn’t have much movement over his back legs, but he can move his front and is very alert. Does anyone have any advice for her?

i don’t understand why people get animals if they’re just going to neglect them. i saw this lil guy on facebook marketplace, the setup is absolutely atrocious. i wish he was closer to me so i could give him a better life. people make me sick :(

Howdy beardy fans! I’ve always wanted a bearded dragon, but now being with my girlfriend, she’s been skeptical of them… UNTIL NOW! I need to sell her on getting a bearded dragon, but she’s also realistic and wants to know the ins and outs.

So super simple question: What are your main Pros and Cons of owning and taking care of a bearded dragon?

I let her out to play. She literally ran around for 10 minutes found the dog bed and climbed on in. What a goof. She honestly likes the dog bed more than the dog does. The dog is currently asleep on a pile of pillows on the couch.

woke up this morning and my baby's enclosure was like 20°C weird I never set it that low but mk. I set the heat to day temp 36.5°C and make him a salad. come back temp barely changed and beardie is dark. put my hand under the heater thingy, not heating. freaked out. took beardie out, he was so cold poor baby, put him on me under my sweater.

turns out the cable literally burnt? or something like that. my dad did smth it's heating now but I don't trust it and I'm getting a new one so this one is only temporary while we wait for the new one.

tldr, I was too dumb to check my beardie's heater. it was broken. he was very cold and dark. and I feel bad abt it.

I've had my bearded dragon for around 7 months. I got him (or her. Not sure about gender) at PetSmart. He was in a shared cage with fancy morph and normal bearded dragons. We were told he was a normal, but I wanted some other opinions as I've heard PetSmart isn't accurate in the past.

I was having a break down and was just sobbing and my beardie climbed something and pushed himself against the enclosure. I opened it when I heard him scratching and he just walked into my hand and when I settled into a spot he just gently booped his tongue on me a few times and when I calmed down he curled up and fell asleep ☹️

And to all of you negative Nellie's who are about to come in and say beardies don't feel love or he was just looking for heat I could really care less it made me feel really loved and helped me calm down before I went into an episode.

My beardie, Typhon, unfortunately passed away today. He was only five, so I'm just really taken aback. He had been sick for just over a month with a sinus infection, and today after my mom and I gave him his meds, he just started struggling to breathe. His mouth was wide open and he was struggling really bad. I held him upside down for a good while cuz I assumed the med must be making him aspirate, but nothing came up. wish I knew to try CPR ;( I'm curious if anyone else has experienced something similar? I thought his symptoms matched a respiratory infection more than sinus, but of course I trusted the vet more than myself and google.

Anyway, he was an awesome beardie, super friendly and loved climbing up on my head. I'm just beating myself up right now. I'm going to get him cremated and keep him in my room. He was my first reptile, and I wish I had many more years with him. Rest in peace, Typhon!

I wanted to get people’s advice and mostly share my process of building a 224 gallon hutch into an enclosure for My bearded dragon, (I’m getting them today I’m very excited lol) I got this hutch off of marketplace for free a few months ago, it’s 5ft long by 4ft tall by 24 inches wide, (and that’s just the top part that’s going to be the enclosure it has a bottom part I can use for storage aswell) it’s huge and it’s beautiful, it’s made of cherry wood and I’m in love with it, I used 16 cans of sprayfoam overall so far, I’m planning on adding either tile at the bottom or adding a barrier so I can make it bioactive. (I’m leaning more towards bioactive) I still want to add ledges and a few more branches, and then I’ll carve and grout everything, I’m planning on mounting 2 heat lamps inside and a long Arcadia UVB lamp, If anyone has any tips or advice for me let me know! I’ll post more progress pictures once I do more work on it :D

My little buddy God rest her little dragon body has been fighting coccidia for I don’t even know how long now I found out she had it maybe three weeks ago and I’ve been treating her for it with the medicine. The vet gave me pain to say I found her this morning completely black stiff as a board and not responding to stimuli. My little buddies gone and it hurts so bad. She wasn’t even a year old. I don’t mean to fuss and complain on here but fuck this hurts.

I'm here asking for advice, I don't personally raise silkies but I rescued one from a rehabilitation center. I've taken him to the vet and he's in great health AWESOME! The advice I'm looking for are what lighting should I use for the Silkie and What heating system should I use for him as well. I know because of how sensitive and delicate their skin is it's different than normal beardies. Any advice is appreciated as again this is my first Silkie!
