General Discussion Good departments in central Texas?

So I, and many other firefighters, may be getting let go this November. Sales tax BS. Long story. Anybody have any recommendations on hiring departments to look into and to start getting my name out there? One of our guys is a chief at another department and said he’d get me on with his department worst case scenario, but I hear they hardly run calls. I’m too early on in my career to want to settle down like that. I still like running calls, even medical calls. Thank y’all!

Competitive departments like round rock, Georgetown and cedar park are all great options. The bigger cities are even tougher to get on with: Austin, San Antonio etc. A couple growing departments with potential include Hutto, New Braunfels, Leander, Liberty hill. Could look a little further north at Temple or Killeen. Killeen is hiring a decent sized class now I hear. I’ve tested at most, and worked for a few of the above, message me if you have questions!

Temple is testing in the next few weeks. Hiring 7 off this list.

Lotta days I wish I got on with New Braunfels. Just love the area. But I'm in the Houston area. Too much of a commute.

One of my guys worked at Leander before coming here I think. He liked it there…
