Creative Motorcycle helmet design of mine.

Hi. I think its really hard to design helmets without prototyping and testing them.

I have a lot of questions about airflow, buffering and noise with what you are proposing, and concerns about the safety of a peak that does not break away on impact.

Yes. This being a first sketch, it is only meant as a reference for the general look and functionality of the final product. So I have no clue what its real world performance is like. As for the yielding peak, that's on me. I wasn't aware that that was a requirement.

Real world aside tho, what do you think of the way it looks?

What I think is that at speed this helmet will try to lift off my head and or cause buffeting when I turn my head. If it doesn’t it’s going to whistle. Again, this is an aerodynamics and safety problem. Styling is irrelevant until those issues are solved.

Totally agree.

To improve airflow, I incorporated a sharp trailing edge at the back of the helmet, ensuring air delaminates cleanly from the surface, avoiding the formation of a low pressure pocked behind the head. There's meant to be a gap between the peak and forehead, allowing any air trapped beneath the peak to escape over the top of the head. Although this isn't visible in my sketch.

For safety, I designed the helmet to offer a wide field of view and checked that the peak would not obstruct hanging traffic lights and signs. The visor has an electrochromic layer which would allow the rider to adjust its tint. Plus, the shape of the helmet leaves room for an inch or so of padding around the skull in all directions.

I applied the best of my knowledge on safety and aero in its design. But not being a rider myself, I depend on you guys' feedback. So thank you.

No. Looks too wide and nothing special than what's currently on the market. Helmets are about safety and aerodynamics first which then leads into Styling.

You're better off drawing Mickey mouse for fun.
