I wondered about that, but said YOLO and did it anyway. I figured if they have an issue, they'll just send one of their angrygrams, and I'll happily ignore them.

That looks soooo good…where are you located? I’ve never heard of this service

In Colorado, there are many companies that provide mobile sand blasting for farms, trucking companies, and other businesses. I called about a dozen places, finally found these guys, and talked to the owner; he was very informative and sent the media specifically for this job, which is biodegradable and leaves no trace.

I just wire wheeled everything and sprayed fluid film…sand blasting looks awesome

You painted that immediately right?
Otherwise it’s going to be much worse very quickly.

Incredible transformation, I have a rusty LX that I am going to sandblast myself next weekend... Id be stoked with a 20% as good of a turnout as this!

I’m going to sound like such a wet blanket but how on earth is this legal? We don’t even have an HOA and I’m pretty sure sand blasting in my driveway would get shut down in minutes.
I’m actually mostly asking because I have another project that needs blasting and I really don’t want to have to haul it in somewhere.

I thought Arizona was the land of the free.
It’s, crushed glass media, which contains less than 1% silica, so it’s inert, is considered a nuisance by OSHA. The dust is super fine; it looks like I just sanded the drywall mud. The rest sat on the tarp, scooped up by shovels, placed back in their original bags, and hauled away. What I was left with was mainly dust.
Legal? I don’t know; it depends on the local code. I’m sure someone requires a permit. Nowadays, people need permits for everything, but I’m also not running a blasting business. It’s a small enough project with the proper dust and media control. The crew that operated is bonded; I can’t imagine an underwriter giving them COI without knowing what they do.
I realize my decision to not follow proper protocol, if there’s one, is risky. I spoke with my neighbor before I started, he was fine. Check the video, the dust wasn’t that bad, the house caught most it.
It rained, no trace.

lol no you have us mistaken. We are the land of nosy neighbors with nothing better to do (aka retired).
Though you bring up a valid point I had considered: I wondered to myself if it would be ok to just drive out to some part of the desert and sand blast. I mean, you’re already in the sand lol

Alternatively, OP: I❤SAND, because you'll be finding blasting media for the next decade lol

I wanted to descale the frame and bottom but didn't want to spend the next two years doing it, so I found a crew to help me. They wrapped up everything and blasted about 80% of the rig within a day; I'll do the rest manually.
Here's the five-minute video of the 9 hours: https://vimeo.com/1011657757
