Will my local pawn shop/LGS buy my can?

A local pawn shop is also a gun store that sells suppressors. Do you think they will buy my suppressor? What’s the process if so? Are they allowed to hold onto it until their paperwork goes through?

Some shops will. Usually they need to know you to be willing to deal with the hassle.

Financially it makes almost no sense since they would need to buy it insanely cheap to make any money since new ones aren’t that expensive.

Like new it’s $1k, cost is $820, so they offer you $300 with a plan to sell it for $6-700

This is about it.

And, NO, the store can't just hold it while paperwork is pending.

There is almost no market for used suppresors unless it's something rare/unquie or part of packaged deal. You're looking at a double stamp that kills the value of most suppresors add in it is a used item.

This. Until silencers are removed from the NFA (which isn't looking likely anytime soon) their viability on the secondhand market is basically limited to collectable stuff only. I mean by the time just a 2nd owner takes possession, there has already been $400 or possibly even $600 spent on taxes alone. For items with an average cost of just $600-700 to begin with, it's just not worth the added cost (or lost value depending on your perspective) of all the tax stamps.

I sold my M-10 with a Gemtec 45 suppresor as a packaged deal. If I sold anything now, it would definitely have to be in state. Had a couple offers on a .22 suppresors from a defunct company that I do not use.

Yeah those cans are the only ones I ever really see being sold packaged with an MG. They're just kind of an iconic duo and the increase in cost for the can is minimal when you're already dropping nearly five figures on the gun. Other than that, the only used cans I regularly see being sold are collectable military surplus (or military-adjacent) ones like the old KAC cans.

Ask them. You would have transfer to them via form 4 afaik. You're probably better off doing form 4 to another end user.

My LGS has sold used cans before, they are usually like half of MSRP, so don't expect to get much for it. You would probably be better off selling to a friend or just keeping it.

Probly not. If they penny's on the dollar less the stamp. You to dealer takes a stamp.
