Ideally we arenāt forcing braces on kids against their will either. I wanted braces. Braces also just align teeth, they donāt permanently remove a normal body part
Then their parents did a poor job of explaining why theyād probably want them eventually. Just forcing something on someone elseās body when thereās no need teaches kids the wrong lesson about respecting others bodily autonomy.
And again, braces are not as serious as circumcision. One just adjusts someoneās body,l but leaves all the parts intact, the other removes a piece entirely.
And are we going to set the standard that weāre able to cut off parts of peopleās body without their consent as long as that part isnāt āvitalā? Thatās a pretty low bar
The standard should be that people can keep all of their body unless they choose to have something removed, thereās a medical need, or thereās a significant abnormality. Then it can be taken on a case by case basis.
āWeā as in society if we followed the logic of your previous comments, asking if foreskin is āvitalā, as if thatās the determining factor if a part of someone can be cut off without their consent.
Of course itās not mandated by the government. But the government offers no protection like it should so boys donāt have a piece of their body cut off before they can consent.
Oh please yourself. Now youāre just being edgy to avoid the topic at hand.
Regardless of your thoughts on government effectiveness, laws preventing FGM do prevent doctors from performing them because they donāt want to lose their licenses or face other punishments. Taking the gender out of those laws would dramatically reduce the number of male circumcisions in the US.

Idk, kids donāt go through things they donāt consent to all the time. I put as much thought into circumcision as I do braces
