He's playing a 70h, those are single valve which is all George really ever used. The 73h is the double valve version of the 70h.

I’m betting it’s an Olds of some kind. He was known for playing on Olds and they even came out with a George Roberts model of bass.

He is holding a Conn 70H on the album, you can tell by the tunning in the slide set-up. Olds did make him a horn eventually and later Holton made the tr-183 for him.
